Batteries are a great idea.  However they may not be cost effective for us.  Cookie, they probably would be for you.

DH is waiting until the technology is a little further along, but it would be worth it.

We're not sure yet how the whole solar thing is going to work out - we are just waiting for the inspector to come and give us the go-ahead then we can start watching usage / storage / access on to and off the grid, it will be interesting.  The Tesla battery we got is - to me, anyway - fairly big (180 kg, I think) I pitied the guys who had to manhandle it up our very narrow staircase which has two 90 degree corners half way up!

At the moment it is only connected to our residence, but it will eventually also be linked to our workshop and shop.

One of our customers has solar and loves it - she said she is addicted to the app watching usage, etc. and I suspect I too will become addicted to it :o

This is what our DS has told us.
Marina, given your home/work circumstances the batteries are probably a good idea. Yes you will become addicted to watching the usage.
In the 1950s Australia was the leading World authority on solar.  Poor political direction let us loose this advantage. We are now trying to catch up.

Solar is wonderful. We have 14-15 hours of sunlight a day. We have had it for almost 10 years now. We only have a 3kw system as it was all that was available at the time. We haven’t had a power bill in that time and have several thousand dollars credit. We have been getting an excellent rebate on it though. That finishes in June.

Cookie, that is wonderful.
We can’t feed into the grid as ours is full. Still worth having.

Following RTE's list, I ordered the cook book "Community".  It arrived yesterday and looks to have loads of really lovely and interesting recipes.  I can't wait until I get the chance to have a good look through it.

I’ve been buying Christmas presents for GS. I bought everything online as I’m avoiding going to shops.

That is a very wise decision, CC.  Take care and keep safe.

Sensible Denise. Are you all able to get together for Christmas?
