Thanx again, DD- can you freeze them?? They sure look delicious, I'm sure my girls would love them as well - and we get 2 dozen eggs each week from BIL, so we have plenty of them!!!! :)

I have a regular pie maker and a mini pie piemaker. I didn't realise you could get a mini pie maker until I read something Halex had posted. I love them both.

Yes you can freeze them.

I made a heap on the weekend, wrap in alfoil, and freeze.
Then take to work for lunches.

I haven't tried it personally Hally, but I've heard it works just as good as puff pastry :D

Thanks Robyn, none of my batch of 8 made it to the freezer, they were just as nice cold as hot I found.

I use filo pastry in the pie maker with great success.  Have only made quiches  - just cut out the base and no lid.  Certainly cuts down on the fat content.  I usually just give filo a light spray with olive oil rather that slather it with butter.  (DH has had bypass surgery and diabetes so need to be conscious of these things.)

Hi Halex

I have a Breville 2 pie maker. I use three sheets of filo - lightly sprayed with oil - sometime just around the outside edges. Then fold one short edge to other short edge  (which in effect would give 6 sheets of pastry)  My pie maker comes with a cutter and this makes two bases.  Hope this makes sense.

used the mini pie maker & made 3 pies today.

i have a photo of 2, the 3rd I dropped getting out.

I found them very fiddly & ended up trimming some of the excess pastry.
pie 1, quiche with filo trimmed, filo cut to a square
pie 2 morocan lamb pie, same as above
pie 3 quiche, used circular cutter for base. this pie I dropped, it didd not have high sides like the other 2.

they all worked but not quick & simple.
