I have to admit I went looking at pie makers this morning. The idea of making quiches in them is great.

Does anyone else find this.
I make my own pastry and the pies seem to be too much pastry and not enough filling. I am worried that if I roll it too thin the pastry wont hold.

It's no Good,, You all got me interested and so I bought a pie maker! The various gadget makers must be thrilled when one of their machines are mentioned on this forum as it seems guaranteed to make sales.
Well I made some chicken and mushroom pies using some left over chicken. I planned for them to be a tasty snack for my DS,DDIL and DGS for when they arrived down from Aberdeen to see me this weekend. I have put the recipe in main dishes
Dots Chicken and mushroom pies
and here is my picture of the finished pies. They were very tasty and I thought nice looking too. The filling was just the right consistency and the pastry was cooked well on the bottom. I am thinking apple Charlotte today in the pie maker of course.

I think that has convinced me Dot. I will get one. Did you make your own pastry for them?

Absolutely Cookie! Not using the Thermomix is a bit like keeping a dog and barking yourself
The pastry I used is almost instantly made in the Thermomix. It is as quick as opening and unfolding your store bought packets. I can certainly see the advantage of buying puff pastry because of the time in making this but a shortcrust pastry is a dream in the Thermomix. Click on the link of my original message to take you to the recipe.

Last night, just as I was dropping off to sleep, I had a sudden memory recall.
I'm pretty sure I have an old Sunbeam pie maker that is still in it's original box, never used, somewhere in my storage building.
I don't know what prompted that memory popping to the surface but now I have to go out there and hunt around (after setting off a couple of bug bombs to kill the black widows that have taken over and established their territories during the past few months) to see if I can find it. I've already had a look through the storeroom in the house and couldn't find it - although I did find some other things that I had forgotten about.
This gives me an excuse for poking around out there to see what else I can find. I know I have a large box full of old teapots that haven't seen the light of day for at least fifteen years. Lord knows what else I will find. But it's fun looking.
