I think this is kind of the place for this.....

Made a sour dough loaf today .. Kind of ;D. It seemed to refuse to rise even after several hours in a quite warm spot... Put it in oven anyway... But oven is persnickety today and I doubt it was really hot enough.... And maybe baking tin too big? But it doesn't taste too bad at all.. Nice and crusty. Also forgot the egg wash :(

I agree, taste is the most important. Sourdough bread is fairly solid anyway.

Oh GF. I've been there and done that too. Mine was heavy and dry and only good for breadcrumbs. I have given up on sour dough until I get my hands on some of chookies magical starter ;) ;D

Thanks:). The only thing that really concerned me was that initially it didn't seem to rise at all ... But ,as I said, it did taste good. Still on my L plates it seems, so onward and upward to the next one!  ;D

As long as it tastes good GF that's all that matters.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Remember that plump, milky triple cream brie I made, at a cheese class in May?
Here tis

Guess who forgot to turn it every 2 days for 6 weeks  :-))....actually I only turned it twice  :P

.....and it had formed a lovely skin in the beginning too!

Wish you all could smell it!    I would confidently say that "Our Gert" wouldn't even eat this one!  ;D

Will throw it in the paddock tonight, and hopefully a fox eats it, and keels over and dies  :)

Yup!
It was suggested to store in cupboard whilst it matures.....out of sight, out of mind/

I'm too forgetful for brie I'm afraid, so I'll stick to making a cheeses that require much less maintenance  ;)

Maddy that is awful. I bet you could kick yourself. On the other hand you may have invented a new fox bait. :D
