We had a quiche tonight with a filling of roasted tomatoes and feta. I knew I had some short pastry in the freezer. I found it and used it for the quiche. As I was serving it, I nibbled on a bit of the pastry crust. I had used sweet, short pastry. Oh yuk. It just didn’t go. I was so cross with myself. It’s funny but tasted horrible.

I did that many years ago cookie, not a good match.  I hope you at least ate the quiche part of the dish.

Yes Judy. No one else we touch it. So I have quiche filling for lunch for a couple of days.

My Malai Kofta recipe called for 2 tbs of poppy seed.  I knew exactly where they were in my larder so I grabbed the packet and poured them into the pot.  I thought they looked to be a little bit on the large size for poppy seed and checked the packet - it was black mustard seeds!  I managed to get most of them out, but there were enough left that they did make a small difference but the kofta was still edible so I guess it wasn't a total disaster.

I made some discard crackers yesterday. They weren't quite dry so I left them in the oven for a while with it turned off. Later I put it on to cook some bread. It wasn't until it got to 200* that I realised I still had the crackers in there. Surprisingly they aren't ruined, just browned and crisp.
