Cat and Cake Batter

In case you're wondering, I had to use my Kitchen Aid to make the Lemon Cake as I already had a Fruit Cake boiling up in the Thermomix!

Very cute, of our 4 cats only really two of them are into our food. One particularly (who's getting her tail cut off today) is really into butter, simply put if there is a knife on the side in the kitchen, or an exposed butter dish then she will be there licking the butter up. She's also partial to ice cream bowls

The basenji I had previously, Teafer, did not wait for the stuff to be put out.  She learned while still a puppy, how to open the fridge door and would help herself to sour cream (her favorite) butter, cream cheese and anything else that took her fancy. 

People would visit and wonder why there was a big Velcro strap on the fridge door, up near the top and I would explain but few would believe me.  It was simple to demonstrate, as soon as she heard the Velcro "rip" she would visit the kitchen to check to see if it had been secured.  If not, she would immediately open the door, onlookers or not, and do a cursory search.  The dairy "pod" was on the inside of the door just above her head so she could easily flip up the cover and pick out her selection.

She also knew how to open the dishwasher door and would do so and use that as a platform so she could get up on the kitchen counter and stroll along looking for stuff. 
When I first got her I had a microwave that had a push-down latch and it took her no time at all to figure out how to open that and there were more than a few times when she made off with something that was heating or defrosting - most notable, two pounds of frozen chicken breasts that were only partially thawed.  She grabbed them, leaped off the counter, ran out onto the deck and disappeared into the rosemary thicket. 
She had to be crated that night because the resultant gaseous emissions were eye-watering!

I used to have a black cat that tried to steal my neighbors fish & chips by dragging the paper out the front door while the guy was getting a beer from the kitchen.  He caught him just in time.

For fun and profit? No, seriously, she had been away for a couple of months (she does that over the summer) and came back about a month ago meowing lots. We discovered that she had no control of her tail and the she had no bladder control. After a visit to the emergency vet (she would come back at 10pm on a Friday night), we got a tablet for her to take and I learnt how to empty her bladder. After a week we got to a proper clinic (were they handle those sort of operations), they put her on a different set of tablet treatment to see if it helped. After two weeks she regained some bladder control (the problem is she appears to have broken the tail and it damaged the nerve that tells her that her bladder is full), she still has some accidents/leaks and the tail was getting in the road of her peeing & pooing.

Oh, he's too cute MJ! 
We love our 2 cats to bits, but boy they can be mischievous.
I remember whilst at my friends for a bbq, the next door neighbours cat came running, jumped up beside the bbq, and took the big fat juicy t-bone straight from the hot plate, and ran LOL

This is our equivalent to Garfield! 



He's bigger now, and still likes to sleep on his back lol.

Haha! Love the photos maddy! Diesel sleeps on his back too with paws adrift, but we have dark chairs and he's black, so photos aren't too effective!

Andie, what a dog you had! That's incredible that he was so clever and soo naughty!

Oh Tarasis, I thought cutting the tail off was a harsh sentence for stealing the butter!  Hope she gets better soon.

I wish I could have a cat but the mean person I live with won't have it, nor can I have chooks which I love. I keep telling DH that when i'm coming home from his funeral I'll be stopping by the rescued battery hen place.  I'm terrible who could live with me.

Glad to hear that your poor cat is OK, tarasis. We spent a fortune on our dog Rambo after he was run over. You just do, don't you? Animals are such a part of our family.

Exactly, we kept hitting upon the 'it's the humane thing to do [to put her down]', where in reality you wouldn't & couldnt do that to a human (even if they wanted it) so not very humane at all. I accept most would have balked at having to wee (I, to may wife's dismay call it expressing) their cat every few hours but you quickly get in a routine and we discovered using nappies a couple of weeks ago which we had started using for overnight. They great unless she poos, then she desperately wants it off to clean .

For the next week poor Tabs is cone head and back to having all the cats hissing at her, as none seem to like the plastic cone.

Oh Viv, your comments are so funny.  It is not surprising, after funerals, how many women then have the opportunity of doing whatever they like and boy do some of them have a ball

MJ from the title I wondered if you had made your cat into a cake . Although not a cat lover I must say I loved the photos of the 2 cats.
