Chocolate Yule Log

So it turns out I was one of the ones got that sent the German TMX newsletter 2 weeks ago in error and today I got a "sorry" email from Recipe Community Team with a free exclusive recipe for the Chocolate Yule Log which will be featured in next years 2012 recipe book. Has anyone had great success in rolling cakes into logs? not sure if this is one that I want to try. But it looks great! The German newsletter certainly got me excited as it looks like there will be Thermomix Pantry containers coming out sooner or later. Or at least that is what Im guessing considering I can't speak German! :)

 :) I have made chocolate log cakes before, the trick is to roll up when still warm, then cool.

I was like you and received the German newsletter too. I wondered what was going on. The Yule Log does look tasty.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

we have a whole bunch of yule log recipes on the french forum it being the xmas dessert here...chocolate as well as so many other variations..if someone wants a translated recipe i could do that no problem..  ;D

Frozzie, are they the ones which have biscuits sandwiched together with cream.  I've seen a few in Christmas magazines lately and they certainly look nice.

no not biscuits JD but generally a genoise or sponge cake with a cream or other type filling and iced on the outside with gorgeous decorations..the biscuit type ones are from more eastern european countries or at least i have found...not so much France.. We knew a macedonian family who made one with chocolate and bisicuts in layers then covered in icing..i prefer the buche de noel myself ie the yule log  ;D

they can be chocolate, black forest, creme brulée, exotic fruits, icecream, rasperry, meringe, café or coffee and hte list goes on...

CC like most good things yes fattening but divine when done well...some have fruit mousse in them too ok im stopping writing now or im going to go out and buy one from our very talented local patissiere lol (yes buy as with the talent we have here you really would be hard to beat it..i may try this year though if i find a recipe that takes my fancy  ;D)

will post a recipe in the next day or two..maybe even this afternoon if your lucky  :P

Thanks for the link CC - that was something people I knew who never baked would make for dessert (using bought biscuits) years ago but if you make your own biscuits as in that recipe, it has to be something you would be proud to serve.
