A suggestion to help ditzy people such as myself when submitting recipes. Under preparation, could you (who am I talking to??) put:   Preheat oven to X degrees, line a baking dish with greaseproof paper / grease a 2 litre casserole dish, etc before anything else. Perhaps then go into any other ingredient preparation such as grating chocolate, or milling of flours, etc

Unless reminded at the very beginning I tend to make up something and find that I haven't turned on the oven.

Good call - we like to try to get ingredients listed as they are used too.  Rather than the main ingredient first, as happens with lots of recipes.

I will try to remember - maybe do some editting, when I am not wasting time doing other things.

Thankyou for those tips, as a newbie I need every tip possible.
Why is it that the ingredients aren't listed in the order used as regular recipes are?

They should be but quite often are not mcmich.  Just something to remember when we post recipes we have converted.

Thanks Judy, when making the Carribean Carrot Cake, I forgot to grate carrot and then set aside, so the carrot made the mixture very moist (not so bad, could salvage that). I forgot to put the vanilla in and I often forget to take out the measuring cup before taking off the lid - hence it ends up bouncing all over the bench or in the bowl. I'm sure it's just practice.

I'm possibly a culprit of this. I'm usually eager to get the recipe on the forum before I forget all my jottings of time, speed etc. So watch out for my recipes everyone and read it through first. ;)

I do the same mcmich, mine usually jumps onto the slate floor and I have to chase it all over the place - it bounces well on the slate  :-))

That happened to me for the first time ever the other day. I can report that it bounces well on tiles too. :D

I'm guilty of this too! You would think that I'd take extra care with a new appliance and a new recipe. But no - one of the first things I tried was cream puffs for our street Christmas party. I added the flour at the beginning and cooked it for 10 min, instead of adding it after the first 10 min. Surprisingly enough, they still worked. I filled them with custard, topped them with chocolate and sent them along to the party. Unfortunately, my son started vomiting an hour before the party and I missed the party. By all accounts, they were delicious and the plate came back empty...
