Hi Elkwin and welcome to the forum. It's hard when dealing with fussy kids but I think you have just made the best decision with the weetbix. It sounds like they eat lots of healthy food, just not mixed and you will be so much more relaxed at dinner.

Welcome Elkwin, I hope you get lots more use out of your thermomix. I think it sounds a good idea to cook some yummy food for your husband and yourself.  I can hear how much effort you have put into feeding your children and think it is a great idea to back off and take the spotlight of the kids diet.
I don't mean this in a negative way. Have you tried telling the girls that you understand they don't like different foods, and that is because they are not old enough and their taste buds aren't developed enough. I used to tell my kids that and they were always keen to grow up - eat everything now.  ;D

Hello again. It is nice to have some support from such lovely people!

ElleG, I've had a few discussions about taste-buds with them and how they change as you grow but not for a while, I'll try again. It may work on my 3 yr old who can't wait to grow up.

mcmich - We've done a couple of sorbets, not all good. Didn't freeze the watermelon, apple had flecky skin bits and grapefruit were a bit old and very yuccky. I'll have to get another bag of ice and try again. I would like to try to do an icecream for an occasional treat too.

I'm still trying to get the iced coffee right. Either too thick or too strong.

I'm cooking roast lamb tonight with plans to turn it into shepherds pie tomorrow. I'm going to try and use thermie to do the gravy with the roast drippings.

Welcome Elkwin, it made me feel tired reading about your fussy britches, how frustrating, my last GS now 20 months old is going along the same lines and VERY determined, glad i don't have to deal with him full time.  Don't stress about them, they will survive, and hopefully get around to trying a few things, I have one 8 year old GS who is a little fussy and I always say to him to try things , how did you get to like ice-cream if you didn't try it.  Good Luck and buy a big box of weetbix.  :D

Hi Elkwin - I came across this thread after searching "feeding fussy kids" LOL. I have actually just bought the book with the same title and was looking for any TM adaptions of the recipes. It's really really good, written by an Australian nutritionist, and not just a book with recipes to hide vegies. It gives heaps of tips, and talks more about improving nutrition in general, and in particular talks about how to boost iron and protein for non meat-eaters. I know how frustrating it is to cook a meal only to have the plate pushed away by a pouting child. Anyhow, if you're interested, our small local library had a copy, so I think it's widely available. "Feding Fussy Kids" by Julie Maree Wood.

Firstly - welcome to the forum Elkwin.  :D
Secondly -  wow.  :o You have a battle with your daughters, but hopefully they will get over it. My daughters were super fussy before I got my TM, now they will eat pretty much anything put in front of them (apart from a very few items now) so I understand your frustration. I find a roast dinner always gets eaten very quickly, (OK I know that is not helping you utalise TM much more, but was thinking of you having to do different meals  ;)  - tho I use mine pretty much every night to steam the veges in the internal basket, and also use TM for the gravy unless I have done it in the slow cooker.) Do your girls like muffins? There are alot of ways to 'hide' extra goodness there.  :D  What about chicken nuggets and the likes?
:D

Hi and welcome. I had 2 kids 7 and 8, and they eat veges steamed, which is good.
and raw carrot sticks.

some days i don't use my thermie machines much, on weekends,  both go all ways. ;D ;D

I make muffins, slices, biscuits, cakes, desserts, dips, steam veges, make sauces, every weekend.
Breads, rolls too.

My kids  don't always eat what we do, maybee twice a week, and cereal is fine, as long as they eat something.

Use the basic risotto recipes and change ingredients around.
The varoma is great for steaming.
Chicken nuggets on here are great.

Hi Elkwin - and a very warm welcome to the forum - a most helpful, concerned and friendly bunch of people you'd ever wish to meet!!  Good news to hear you're having more fun going through a lot of the things the forum has to offer - and you may have even come across this wonderful thread - a list of forum favourites from a forum favourite, CreamPuff63! ;D

I'm wondering if you'll find that when you stop thinking about (torturing yourself!!) how to get your children to eat various things, the problem just might take care of itself!  It'll take time . . but I'd love to hear how it turns out eventually! :D  But, for you?  just relax and have yourself a heap of fun playing around with your little kitchen toy!! ;)
