Every time I try I end up with soup!!! Surely someone must have worked out how to get it right???

Breezy easy, steam in Varoma in cubes, empty out water and then mash in bowl.

You could also add in some potato to alter the consistency but i do as uni does nd cook in the basket.. Depends on how much mash you wanted.. If wanted more or wanted to cook other vegies use the varoma..

I was planning to do mashed pumpkin tomorrow night. I was thinking I could just cook it like mashed potato, but not for as long since it has a shorter cooking time, and with less milk since it has a higher water content than potato. Has anyone tried this way? It worked in my head... but after reading your post, Breezy, I'm not sure if it will work?

I just steam the pumpkin the mash it up once it's done for a few seconds with a little butter salt and pepper. I haven't tried it like you do the mashed potato.

I also steam carrots and swede together and then throw them in the TM (without the water) then whizz it for a couple of seconds. My kids really like mashe carrot and swede together (they won't eat swede on its own) not that I can blame them yuck.

Parsnip and carrot is nice together too. With butter and pepper.

Amy if you try it like the mash potato it will be liquidy even if you reduce the added liquid... I find its better to steam the pumpkin then mix in bowl after and if desired add some liquid but i doubt you will need or want to add it..

Definitely doesn't need any liquid added to it, just butter & seasonings will do the job nicely.

I dont like plain mushed pumpkin as its always too liquidy even alone which is why i lways add potato in ith them..
