We had a similar frienship cake but in france it was joe.. Well in my circles lol... Think i still have some of him in th freezer.. After a while i got sick of making him so he ended up full time in the freezer 😊

I never had the starter recipe though just the feeding and cake instructions!!  Thanks for the recipe cc 😊

I think I understand. But if I can make the cake the following day from dividing the mixture into 4, wouldn't that mean that so could the other 3 people?

I suppose technically they could Dede but they would miss the fun of feeding Herman and passing on his "genes"
You don't have to make a starter each time just keep the 4th starter going for yourself.
You could make all four of the cakes yourself.It's sad that no one seems to bake these days.

i get it now, you give it away in step 3 in the method,is the right  Cornish Cream ?

You give away the starters on day 9 Uni.

This brings back memories CC.  Years ago I was given a starter but after awhile got sick of making it.  When I get from holidays I think I will give it another go.

Action speak louder than words, so I thought I would start a Herman the German Friendship Cake so the people confused with the method could see what I do everyday and hopefully the end result.

I mixed up the Herman starter as instructions.He's now in a bowl under a tea towel resting in my kitchen.This is counted as day One.
Sleep well Herman and you better start bubbling away or I will be left with egg on my face
Just measured my roasting tin it's 25cm x 30 cm

No i didn’t JD, i went for a 2nd opinion yesterday which is the 1st time i have done that (2nd opinion )
I just knew it was not a chest infection (2 much pain). i am having a scan today to rule out a lung clot fingers crossed its all clear.

Uni - I've been thinking about you - always best to follow your gut instincts - good for you!! Keeping all fingers (and everything else!) crossed for you.  Let's just hope it's a case of "Bali belly" - once removed a little higher kind of thing!!
