I have a Dyson, but was really annoyed to find that the instructions doesn't say what each of the attachments are. I didn't need instructions to turn it on, or empty the dust but as for the important things........

Thanx all who replied, wish there was a way to try them all out in normal situations before spending big $$$$ on them!!!! :-\
We are still very undecided as to what to do, heard a bit about the kirby but I was a bit worried as I have a problem with my shoulders and don't exactly want to 'begger' them doing the daily vaccuming just because the vac is heavy to pull/push around....
Thanx again!!!!
:D

I'm actually researching the LG robot vacuum. I know it doesn't have the suction or power of a dyson or kirby but thinking the ability to vacuum daily might end up in a good result.

I have a Kirby. It does a great job, buti agree with the comment that it's a bit of a pain that you can't get into nooks and crannies without the hose.  Mind you, if it isn't doing the edges that's usually a sign that the belt isn't engaged properly, or needs replacing.

If you honestly use all it's other functions then it's worth the money - I don't. It's also VERY heavy, so if you have to carry it upstairs think carefully about how strong you are and what state your back is in.

If you're all on one floor, have lots of carpet, and/or have any allergy sufferers in the house (eg dust mite or pollen) then its well worth the money.  If you have a lot of hard floors, don't think you'll bother to use the extra functions or think you'll struggle with stairs, then don't do it would be my recommendation. Are the Vorwerk vacuums in Australia (or wherever you are)?  If so, perhaps they're a similar price?  I hear great things about them, and apparently one of their features is being very light.

Just noticed the 'push/pull' concern. It isn't heavy to use because you put it into 'drive' when you're vacuuming and it sort of power assists. It's carrying it around which is killer.

I had the Kirby Sentria until recently. I found that I was avoiding getting it out mainly due to the weight of the thing. The idea of the Kirby is that every part is able to be purchased seperately and so it is there for life. I have to say that I thought the constant putting the hose and brushes on etc. was not exactly instant. In the end I sold it on Ebay and now have a lightweight Dyson as well as the Dyson battery one. I know that it probably doesn't clean as deeply as the Kirby but then I don't make a lot of mess anyway.
