Amy, I had to just about twist my husband's arm to try the hot smoothie. No way, did he think he would like them! Very reluctant to try.
After the first day it was 'i suppose i can stand it for breakfast again'. Since then, every day he has been suggesting them for breakfast
He is now really enjoying them - last four have had raw coca powder added to them.
Very nice having a hot chocolate smoothie for breakfast

Well done to DH for being so keen to try something new!
I'm very glad you are both enjoying them now
I must get myself some raw cocoa powder and try the hot chocolate smoothie

Have only just read this thread, now I'm wishing I'd bought some bananas when I did the shopping today. Think I have some in the freezer though....

I highly recommend this smoothie if you do happen to have a frozen banana or two...

So do i recommend it,
Amy, I have been using frozen bananas most mornings. Just give it up to 30 secs extra on about 9, before cooking. I have been adding one tabs per person of the raw cocoa, and it is lovely and rich

How have I managed to miss this thread before?
Amy, I think you have answered all my prayers as I am usually stuck as to what to have for breakfast (not a cereal fan to be honest - cardboardy & bland IMHO) I also prefer hot food/drinks given a choice (I blame UK climate
) - so me thinks this is going to a perfect solution.
I will have great fun shopping for this recipe tomorrow - then I can play
and report back
Yay!

Awesome Shally, I can't wait to hear what you think!
I agree with you on your opinion of cereal. There are only about three cereals I will eat due to the cardboard factor
I'm so glad you found this thread! Hopefully it will solve your breakfast dilemma

Had a bruised pear that needed using up, so peeled it and added it to this recipe (along with the banana) with a teaspoon of cacao powder, and it was absolutely delicious. Choc banana and pear smoothie - yumyumyumyum

Oh that sounds soooo good Karen
I need to buy a pear and bruise it. Or see if I can get some bruised pears cheap at the fruit and vegie shop

I only just found this recipe this morning while looking for the porridge for one thread. I only had plain yoghurt so I added a squirt of vanilla essence, I also added some cacao powder an egg and a double espresso shot (didn;t think I would want a coffee as well as a smoothie and had to get my morning caffeine fix
). It was really good but the egg thickened it too much so I add a splash of milk and gave it another minute on 70.
I can see myself doing this again.

Sounds good Den!
Handy to know about the egg too, I'll remember that for when I make this again

Our breakfast today. We doubled recipe, used frozen bananas, sub water to yoghurt and soy milk to milk. Nice warm breakfast for all. DH got lovely maple syrup from his US trip, we drizzled a bit on top.
