The train is really easy from the airport Frozzie. Not a problem at all. We used to do it all the time. Get to North  Sydney or Wynyard then get a bus to Avalon. Cheaper than $170 cab fare!

Will I bring a brolly or not? Don't really wanna carry Anything as I will have my kindle and mini. Enough  weight in my bag.

Gert a couple of weeks ago in KMart where umbrellas are, we bought some raincoats that fold up into themselves and they're really compact, for $10 or $15. They're great and easier than carrying a brolly in your situation ....  I got one for DH and I mainly for camping .... but we leave them in the car and they're very handy. They're navy blue, I think they're mens but who cares, if they keep you dry !

Saw them yesterday and even had one in my hand but 'twas too bulky for my bag.  I am a girl who likes to carry NOTHING but my wine glass. LOL!  Have a brolly but am I a risk taker?... We'll see.
