Those little things people do that we just can't stand even though we know they don't really matter. Please tell me I'm not the only one.
My pet hates are:
When people leave the dregs of their milk or tea in the bottom of their cup and it goes all dry and stained and yucky.
When someone empties the water jug and doesn't fill it up again.
When my brother does the dishes and doesn't squeeze the water out of the sponge or wipe all the bits of food from around the edges of the sink.
When someone empties the milk carton and leaves it out on the bench to go smelly.
When girls paint each of their fingernails a different colour.
I'm sure I have heaps more but these are just the ones that spring to mind right now. Does anyone think these are justified or am I just really petty? ???
You can make me feel better by sharing your own if you like ;)

Oh dear Amy - you have started an interesting topic!!
My pet hates are all of yours above, and for the rest of them - i will have to sit down and compile my list .
Which may take me some time
;D
-
I probably have a huge list too!
Although my biggest pet hate is there is one girl in our very small office who changes the toilet roll and then places the empty cardboard roll on the floor. The bin is about 6 steps away, but no she can't put it in the bin she puts it on the floor, every time. I always pick it up & put it in the bin. It annoys me no end!!
-
I'm not going to comment on this topic as I'm afraid I will go on and on and on and on and on and on :D
-
Too easy. Liars and bullys.
Gert
-
Ok now you have got me started. My pet hates
When someone leaves an empty plate I the fridge
And when there is two drops of milk left in the carton in the fridge
Empty toilet rolls on the floor
Dirty clothes left on the floor in the kids rooms
Cupboard doors that are not closed properly
Kids eating in the lounge room even though I have told them since birth that there is NO eating in the lounge room
Dirty finger prints in glass doors and windows
Odd socks
Towels thrown in the washing machine with clothes
Kids jumping on my bed when it's made
Dirty dishes left I the bench rather than in the dish washer
Clothes that I have spent ages folding messed up and scrunched up.
When I mow the lawn and it's all tidy then the tree decides to dump heaps of leaves on it.
Kids walking outside with socks on and no shoes
Oh I could go on and on and on.
-

Oh that would really get on my nerves too Katie! Lazy people! >:(

Gert
Gert, I love the simplicity of your answer ;)
LOL Mandi... what can I say except the obvious? You have 5 children :-)) ;D
But everything you mentioned has a place on my list too and I don't even have kids. Just parents and a brother.
-
Ditto Mandi.

My Dear Husband that has a warped sense of humor that is standing here..... advises
Exercise
house work, thank god I have a husband who can cook, clean, wash, fold clothes, and fix everything. ( I am very spoilt)
My biggest pet hate,
People who judge other people on appearance only.
for example, my thinking is........
If someone walks into our shop looking Daggy, thongs ect, they are probably a multi millionaire.
If someone is dressed up to the nines, they are most likely in huge debt...
Usually I am right.
Off my soap box now. :)

One pet hate is my thunder thighs, I hate them.

One pet hate is my thunder thighs, I hate them.
I've never heard that term before DG... ???
-
Oh Dizzy, you crack me up.... ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Amy you better google it ;D

Don't know about pet hates....try not to focus on them and cut the people in my life and those I come in contact with a break as they do for me.
Pet Loves:
When DH does the shopping and I come home to flowers that he has arranged in a vase.
My neighbour brings in my washing because they see the weather turning and know I'm at work.
My DH leaves a note on the steering wheel of my car telling me he loves me.
My DD turns up unexpectedly and says "Mum lets get pedicure"
My SIL makes a calender using photos of family events from throughout the previous year.
-
Michele seems like you have a lovely DH. I must tell my not so DH your list LOL.
-
Mcmich yup best to concentrate on the good things and not the negative small annoyances in life . Don't sweat the small stuff.
Gert
-
1.i hate it when i get served b4 the kid, that was there b4 me >:(
2. saying that your meal is s**t, but i see you licking the plate :-))
3. whats the go with the young ones, u ask how are u and 9 out 10 times they say that they are tied :-))
4 i hate it when i get served b4 the kid, that was there b4 me ;D
-
Boys/men/blokes that wear their shorts/jeans soooooo low that I can see their underpants. ???
Now if underpants were meant to be seen they would be called outerpants and you would wear them over the top of your shorts/jeans. (like superman!)
I have informed both my daughters that if they bring a boy home and I can see his undies, he'll be out the door so damn quick he'll be spinning and he'll be trying real hard to get his jeans out of his backside without surgery after I have pulled them up for him!
That is my biggest pet hate!
-
Oohh and I forgot to add to list of Pet Loves:
You are meeting a forum member for the first time and they are generous and friendly and bring a a gift bag with vanilla beans, vanilla sugar (smell divine) and limoncello and another bottle of moonshine (can't quite remember what Uni said that was).
You have a lovely day together eating your way around the show. Sooo Goood. ;D ;D ;D
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/3ce738d1-c49f-3986.jpg). Nikkit
-
I hate that too.
-
Michele, your list is beautiful :D You sound like a woman who doesn't get annoyed easily ;)
Gert, that reminds me of the two most important rules of life:
1. Don't sweat the small stuff.
2. Remember that its all small stuff.
;) ;) ;)
Why hello Uni, I haven't heard much from you for a couple of days :( Glad to see you back :D
I like your list, especially the second one. That would pi** me off too :-))
Nikkit, you've just nailed another one of mine! That is really quite gross, I don't know why blokes can't understand it!!
But, in saying that, I would rather see jocks than a bum crack :o
OMG DG... Forget the budgie smugglers... horse smugglers more like!
-
Thanks Gert!
Oooooh one more...
Cutting up on my gravel driveway. Now it is ok for me to do it ;D, and almost ok if hubby does it, but if a boy comes down my driveway sideways and swings in here looking for one of my daughters he's gonna have to deal with me.
I have told my girls that if any boy they bring home does that he'll be raking the driveway with the rake firmly implanted up his .....
(not hands!)
Recently Miss 15 was driven home by her friends boyfriend and he literally crawled down the driveway. I smiled sweetly at him in his hotted up V8 and was mighty impressed I must say! I asked Miss 15 why he had driven so slowly down the drive and she said "well I told him that Mum would stick the rake up his .... and he'd be raking the drive if he came down it sideways, so he went soooooo slow it was painful".
At long last she listened to me, I do love that child of mine!
DG - if I can see all that .... oh never mind....!!!!
Amy - bum crack, yes that is not good either, we have "painters crack" (hubby) and "cook's crack" (that would be me!) in this house. Did see an especially hairy bum crack at the servo the other day. You know when you look and are pretty grossed out - but you look again to make sure that it was actually what you saw - and yep - it was . Not pretty!
-
I prefer my men in these undies....
Oh my.
-
Nikkit, you have trained your daughter well ;)

LOL why do we always do that double take!? I swear I don't really want to look again, but you're right, its just confirm that it was a bumcrack and not some poor miniature poodle being horribly mistreated :-))
-
Oh Amy - I never thought of that - it could have been a poor puppy! He was rather large, and he was rather hairy, but believe me - even though I looked twice I sure as heck wasn't going to get up close and check to see if it was his lost puppy that he sat on or if it was indeed just a hairy bumcrack.
Oh the images that are running through my head right now. Why oh why can't we "scrub eyeballs" to remove icky sights?
-
LOL I ask myself the same thing Nikkit :-))

yes, the positive notes should be encouraged. mcmich you are a lucky girl. You are obviously a very "spriritual" sort or person and you reap what you sow.
I have never seen undies like "Big Boys" hey hey but I never give up hope

Couldn't agree more, CP!! Well said!! . . and Mcmich - love your list :D
-
Michelle, your list is wonderful.
especially DH leaves a note telling me he loves me.... :)
-
I agree that Michele's husband sounds great (as does Michele herself of course) - pity you are not bringing him to the retreat so that we could all meet him ;)
I don't have much time to think about my pet hates - there are plenty of things that annoy me but I voice my opinion then move on. Not one to hold grudges and tend to prioritise important and non-important issues - easy to do when your life has real problems. This isn't making light of other peoples pet hates, I probably have as many as anyone else ;)
-
Michelle I love your attitude! :)
I can't stand cupboards/drawers left open, but that only takes a second to fix then all's well again. :)
Pet loves:
When the kids tell me they love me - anytime but love it more when they do it randomly for no apparent reason. :)
When DH tells me he loves me - same as above! ;) :) :)
When I get thanked for a meal. :)
Flowers :)
Smiles :)
Clean clothes and faces with tidy hair - on anyone. :-)) Bit strange but I just love it!
Just the little things that make my day!
-
Okay, I have been inspiried to write my pet loves because all you ladies are right, there is no point dwelling on the negatives ;)
Amy's Pet Loves:
When my mum leaves roses on my desk :)
When Jo wiggles his little fins at me when I feed him :)
When the sun shines :)
When the little Willy Wag Tails play in our front garden :)
When the person at the check out is really friendly :)
When a baby smiles at you at it lights up the entire room :)
I feel good now :D
-
Amy, I'm going back to pet hates.
To be honest, I haven't given this much thought but I think the top of my list would have to be (lack of) mobile phone etiquette. I hate having to listen to someone else's personal / private / commercial business in cafe's, on public transport, etc. - and usually in a very loud voice, just in case the person at the other end of the line is deaf. I also find it highly offensive if I am serving someone and their phone rings and they take the call without even excusing themselves - suddenly it's as if I am no longer present, the phone call takes priority and I am left standing there, wasting my time whilst they chatter on about (to me) totally inane subjects. >:( >:( >:( GGGGRRRRRRRRRR
-

Not spiritual CP, I use to be easily bothered and annoyed about a lot of things and then life dealt me a few of its harsh realities and I now nothing much bothers me at all.
Judy, DH would have loved to come on the retreat, if anyone has an emergency come up and can't attend then I'll see if he can fill the spot.

LOL you've got me back onto them now Cuilidh! I hate mobile phones just for being mobile phones, but people who use them like that are very irritating. I used to work in a fish factory and if someone was talking on their phone in there it would echo as far out the back as the staff area. Like we wanted to hear them blather on while we sat down for a cuppa? :-))
I use to be easily bothered and annoyed about a lot of things and then life dealt me a few of its harsh realities and I now nothing much bothers me at all.
I could say the same as you Michele, but I still need to whinge about the petty things now and again just to get them off my chest. I'm working on the "nothing much bothers me at all" mindset but I need a bit more practice ;)
-
In Japan is it very much a no-no to use mobile phones on public transport (I don't know about other public spaces). If only that were the case over here.
-
Mobile phones are my pet hate. Or rather those who have loud conversations without regard for others.
I was sitting with my sister waiting to see her cancer specialist in a rather sombre waiting room, when a woman, also waiting, answered her phone, speaking rather loudly to a friend about something she found amusing. After a moment or two she loudly yelled "Can you hear me .......can you hear me".
An elderly lady, waiting with her obviously sick husband, leaned over to the woman and gently advised "Everyone can hear you dear."
The woman flushed with embarrassment and quickly moved outside much to the relief of the rest of the patients .
A hospital waiting room is hardly the place to have loud mundane mobile phone conversations. Whatever happened to manners.

OMG! That is brilliant!!!!
My pet hate- rude, selfish drivers. Especially those who push in when others wait patiently. Grah. Traffic in general gets me firey.
Loves- Hugs from my DH, neices, dog, parents, bothers and sister and friends. And wine. Wine makes me very happy. Especially after driving home in peak hour.
-
I'm a bit like Michele. I really only have one strong dislike. I wouldn't say it was a hate. That is spelling errors in places they shouldn't be. Eg professional documents. And magazine zones, sign writing etc. I guess that is the teacher in me. I understand that people make spelling mistakes and that doesn't bug me.
I really can't be bothered having hates, a waste of my energy to sweat the small stuff.
Thinking about this I really dislike bullying as well.
-
Love that story Merrilyn :D
And wine. Wine makes me very happy. Especially after driving home in peak hour.
LOL that is completely understandable Reeni ;D

I should introduce you to my mum, cookie. She refuses to buy anything if there is a spelling mistake on the label :-))

One of my favourite pass-times when travelling in non-native English speaking countries is reading the hotel House Rules. I can vividly remember one stating that no unsnary items were to be taken into the room, you were also not allowed to up anyone, lighting of fireworks in the room was also banned ... I wish I could remember them all, but it is a long time since I read them and some of them have faded into my 'grey matter', never to be found again.
-
I have a photo somewhere I will have to find for you that I took when I was in Taiwan of the house rules. The translation into English was hysterically bad.
Probably my only pet hate is bad manners, I was brought up to be respectful to others and I dislike when people are rude. I have lots of likes....I am a very lucky person who has a caring husband, gorgeous loving kids and I live in a beautiful safe part of the world....I have money to buy food and clothes for my family. Life is good in many ways. I would like to be skinnier, richer, and have more time, but topics like this remind me to remember just how much I am fortunate to have. Thank you.

Thats really lovely to hear stacelee :) Thank you for commenting :-*
