Don't know about pet hates....try not to focus on them and cut the people in my life and those I come in contact with a break as they do for me.

Pet Loves:

When DH does the shopping and I come home to flowers that he has arranged in a vase.

My neighbour brings in my washing because they see the weather turning and know I'm at work.

My DH leaves a note on the steering wheel of my car telling me he loves me.

My DD turns up unexpectedly and says "Mum lets get pedicure"

My SIL makes a calender using photos of family events from throughout the previous year.

yes, the positive notes should be encouraged. mcmich you are a lucky girl. You are obviously a very "spriritual" sort or person and you reap what you sow.

I have never seen undies like "Big Boys" hey hey but I never give up hope

I agree that Michele's husband sounds great (as does Michele herself of course) - pity you are not bringing him to the retreat so that we could all meet him  ;)

I don't have much time to think about my pet hates - there are plenty of things that annoy me but I voice my opinion then move on.  Not one to hold grudges and tend to prioritise important and non-important issues - easy to do when your life has real problems.  This isn't making light of other peoples pet hates, I probably have as many as anyone else  ;)

Michelle I love your attitude!  :)

I can't stand cupboards/drawers left open, but that only takes a second to fix then all's well again.  :)

Pet loves:
When the kids tell me they love me - anytime but love it more when they do it randomly for no apparent reason. :)
When DH tells me he loves me - same as above!  ;) :) :)
When I get thanked for a meal.  :)
Flowers  :)
Smiles  :)
Clean clothes and faces with tidy hair - on anyone.  :-)) Bit strange but I just love it!
Just the little things that make my day!
:D

Amy, I'm going back to pet hates.

To be honest, I haven't given this much thought but I think the top of my list would have to be (lack of) mobile phone etiquette.  I hate having to listen to someone else's personal / private / commercial business in cafe's, on public transport, etc. - and usually in a very loud voice, just in case the person at the other end of the line is deaf.  I also find it highly offensive if I am serving someone and their phone rings and they take the call without even excusing themselves - suddenly it's as if I am no longer present, the phone call takes priority and I am left standing there, wasting my time whilst they chatter on about (to me) totally inane subjects.  >:( >:( >:(  GGGGRRRRRRRRRR

Not spiritual CP, I use to be easily bothered and annoyed about a lot of things and then life dealt me a few of its harsh realities and I now nothing much bothers me at all.

Judy, DH would have loved to come on the retreat, if anyone has an emergency come up and can't attend then I'll see if he can fill the spot.

LOL you've got me back onto them now Cuilidh! I hate mobile phones just for being mobile phones, but people who use them like that are very irritating. I used to work in a fish factory and if someone was talking on their phone in there it would echo as far out the back as the staff area. Like we wanted to hear them blather on while we sat down for a cuppa? :-))

I use to be easily bothered and annoyed about a lot of things and then life dealt me a few of its harsh realities and I now nothing much bothers me at all.

I could say the same as you Michele, but I still need to whinge about the petty things now and again just to get them off my chest. I'm working on the "nothing much bothers me at all" mindset but I need a bit more practice ;)

In Japan is it very much a no-no to use mobile phones on public transport (I don't know about other public spaces).  If only that were the case over here.

Mobile phones are my pet hate.  Or rather those who have loud conversations without regard for others.

I was sitting with my sister waiting to see her cancer specialist in a rather sombre waiting room, when a woman, also waiting, answered her phone, speaking rather loudly to a friend about something she found amusing.  After a moment or two she loudly yelled "Can you hear me .......can you hear me".

An elderly lady, waiting with her obviously sick husband, leaned over to the woman and gently advised "Everyone can hear you dear."

The woman flushed with embarrassment and quickly moved outside much to the relief of the rest of the patients .

A hospital waiting room is hardly the place to have loud mundane mobile phone conversations.  Whatever happened to manners.

OMG! That is brilliant!!!!

My pet hate- rude, selfish drivers. Especially those who push in when others wait patiently. Grah. Traffic in general gets me firey.

Loves- Hugs from my DH, neices, dog, parents, bothers and sister and friends. And wine. Wine makes me very happy. Especially after driving home in peak hour.

I'm a bit like Michele. I really only have one strong dislike. I wouldn't say it was a hate. That is spelling errors in places they shouldn't be. Eg professional documents. And magazine zones, sign writing etc. I guess that is the teacher in me. I understand that people make spelling mistakes and that doesn't bug me.

I really can't be bothered having hates, a waste of my energy to sweat the small stuff.

Thinking about this I really dislike bullying as well.

I should introduce you to my mum, cookie. She refuses to buy anything if there is a spelling mistake on the label :-))

One of my favourite pass-times when travelling in non-native English speaking countries is reading the hotel House Rules.  I can vividly remember one stating that no unsnary items were to be taken into the room, you were also not allowed to up anyone, lighting of fireworks in the room was also banned ... I wish I could remember them all, but it is a long time since I read them and some of them have faded into my 'grey matter', never to be found again.
