A light nibble to have with drinks before a meal.
These can be baked in the oven but I cooked them in the Air Fryer.
170 tin of chickpeas , rinsed. I use locally grown Victorian dried chickpeas that i boiled.
2 Tablespoons of natural Almonds, roughly chopped
1/2 teaspoon of paprika
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
good pinch of chilli flakes
olive oil spray.
Place chickpeas on kitchen paper to soak up any moisture. Change the paper if a lot of moisture come out of the peas.
Mix together all ingredients except oil
spread on baking tray , spray with oil, and bake in oven ,until the almonds are slightly brown. about 20 minutes at 160 o C
or
bake in dish in AF,sprayed with oil, shaking every 5 minutes until almonds are slightly brown. temp 200 for about 20 minutes.
this recipe is adapted from "The Worlds Best Diet".
As the visitors ate all the Chickpeas and Almonds, (they were fascinated by the crispness of the Chickpeas) I couldn't take a Photo. I have 'borrowed' the one from the book.

These would go well in an Xmas hamper. Thanks for the recipe Chookie.
-
Xmas Hamper is a good idea as they seem to remain crisp. If you don't want nuts you could use pumpkin seeds.
-
Mmmm they look delicious chookie.

Something different Chookie, they look great.

They look and sound great in Chookie.

Going to make some more today. This time will use tinned Chickpeas, to see if there is any difference.

These were made with tinned Chickpeas. 220 grams when drained.
They took an extra 10 minutes in the AF. They were larger and moister than the ones I cooked.

Thanks chookie, will try these in the next couple of days. Yours look delicious! :D
-
Good Julie. Adjust the spices to your liking.
-
Has anyone made in the oven for those that don't have an AF?
I've tried similar recipes before and they've been a bit of an acquired taste... A bit hard on the teeth... LOL.
This mix sounds great.
-
DJ, these are crunchy and not solid little balls. Try 20 mins at 180 ( moderate ) oven . Just dry them until no longer damp.
-
Chookie, I made these and they were enjoyed by all.
I used a full can of chickpeas so I upped the almonds to 3 tbs but only used ¼ tsp of the spices as we don't like things too spicy. Easy to make and a nice alternative to just chips or nuts. I didn't get a chance to take a photo but they turned out great. Thanks again. :D
-
Julie , this recommendation indeed. Thank you.
-
We make these quite often. Kids love honey and soy. Wasabi is good too.
-
