Title: Yoghurt question
Post by: auds on May 17, 2012, 01:39:50 am
I made the yoghurt from the EDC last night and checked it this morning.  It has worked - yay - but its quite runny.  The EDC said to make pot set style yoghurt to strain it through muslin which I did - however the yoghurt just ran straight through the cloth (too runny).

I have put it in the fridge hoping it will set a bit more in there ????  If not - any suggestions as to how I get the thicker yoghurt?

Thanks in advance :)

I also follow the EDC recipe for youghurt.
If i want it thicker like a greek style , i strain my youghurt through a new and clean Chux kitchen cloth and have had no problem.
my neighbours fell straight through like yours - so i would suggest its perhaps the size of the holes in the cloth you are using ???
 :)

Hi Auds - how long did you let it 'work' for? I leave mine for at least 12 hours or it is too runny. I try to make sure the mix is warm enough to ferment properly so I put mine in a thermoserver  wrapped in a towel and put in an esky.

thanks for the replies :)  I left it from about 6pm to about 8am!

The chux sounds like a good idea - will try that next time.

Thanks so much for all your help guys

auds - have a look at this.  This is the method my family uses and so far it's an absolutely no-fail!!
