I put my piece of kitchen paper on the top of the lid and jam it in with the MC when grinding.

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Measuring Cup (MC) - Which way up?« on: October 02, 2010, 10:03:40 pm »
When I got my TM 2 1/2 years ago, my consultant said I should put the MC in with the open end up unless I was using the butterfly.
I didn't asky why but this makes sense to me because: 1. It is easier to lick! 2. It is easier to wash 3. It makes the inside of the lid "flatter" I wonder now whether I am the only person in the world who has a fixation with checking out who has got them in "upside down" in photos & videos - eg. Chef Dylan. Or is mine actually in "upside down". I know I am a bit obsessive - I like shoes at 90 degrees, furniture, etc at 45 or 90 degrees and so on. Just wondering which way up the rest of you use your MC?!?! 3
Chit Chat / Re: How do you keep up with posts?« on: September 27, 2010, 06:41:47 am »
I scroll right to the bottom of the home page to Info Center - Forum Stats and click on "View the most recent posts on the forum". This gives me 10 pages which usually means that if I check it once a day (or twice on a busy day) that I can keep up with everything that is going on. If something takes my fancy or I think there is a photo involved, I right click on the link and open in a new tab so I always have my original list to go back to. Works well for me.

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: Seal« on: July 13, 2010, 06:53:52 am »
I replaced mine not long ago after about 2 years but it had been leaking for a while.
A consultant has since told me that if I put my old one in the fridge in a bowl of water for a couple of weeks it will come goodbut I haven't tried this. I asked about the small seal on the blades but she said that shouldn't need replacing at the same time but gave no indication of when. 7

Judy - I remember you saying once before that your TMX was not good on . Has it always been like this or do you think that it is slowing down? Its just sometimes I think that mine is not as powerful as it used to be (now 2 years old) and wondered if they need to be serviced periodically. Does anyone know?

Mine sometimes whistles/whines on speed 4 when cooking custard, etc. I'm sure someone else has had this same problem (can't remember if it was a forum member or a friend) so I haven't stressed about it.

Chit Chat / Re: Mandatory Fortifiication of wheat flour for bread making... (not really TMX)« on: May 26, 2010, 08:42:53 pm »
The fruit shop I go to in Mt Barker charges $19.95 for 10kg Laucke bags regardless of type - plain, Wallaby or organic - but you have to keep your eye out for the organic.

I had an email a while back from Laucke to say that they had been forced to comply.
My bag of Laucke orgainc flour contains thiamine but not folic acid. I'm fairly sure organic is exempt but will need to check when I buy my next one. 11

Could you please clarify how much chocolate is melted and how much is left to add in chunks. Sounds Delicious!

Perhaps you hadn't pushed a heat button? It only stirs if heat is involved.

Recipe Requests / Re: Passionfruit butter recipe anyone?« on: October 18, 2009, 05:36:52 am »
The latest GoodFood magazine has "Quick & Easy Passionfruit Butter" for the microwave that could be adapted. It has no lemons!
Whisk 4 eggs & 3/4 cup caster sugar in microwave-safe bowl, stir in pulp of 4 passionfruit & 100g unsalted butter chopped. Microwave uncovered at 30% for 7-10 minutes until coats spoon, whisking every minute. |
