After reading the reviews I made this one earlier in the week. We all really enjoyed it. My DS wasn't initially keen because he saw a fleck of green in it ("what is Mummy feeding me now!!!"), but the yummy taste won him over. :-)

Dried apricot, date and coconut balls with coconut butter
These were super easy to make and contained only 3 ingredients. I had never made coconut butter before and found that pretty nifty. Sadly my kids and DH aren't keen on the balls. I don't mind them but my taste-buds are probably geared a bit more toward wholesome food. The balls aren't like the apricot/coconut bites that you can buy in the supermarket but that's probably a good thing sugar-wise. 4

My friends have been cooking up a storm from this cookbook so I thought I should try a few more recipes also.
I made this tonight and it was enjoyed by all. A nice wholesome family meal. I was a bit worried about leaving the apple unpeeled but it was fine in the finished curry. I only added 1 tsp of curry powder but will add 1.5 tsp next time for a bit more kick. 5

Was planning to have takeaways, but I feel like cooking now it is cooler here. Probably too late to change my mind as I have already mentioned takeaways to the kids. Drat!

It is a bit odd SoBlessed as you should be losing weight on that diet. I lost about 3kg in 3 months with no fructose but I had already done weight watchers last year so didn't have much to lose. I'm guessing you are mainly eating good fats/oils, not over-loading on dairy, reasonable portions??

No I wouldn't consider it as a weight loss plan either Tam. That is just a positive benefit. For me it was an experiment for my compromised immune system. I loved how stable and focused I felt without sugar and I slept so well. I rarely thought about food and only ate 2-3 meals a day (didn't need any snacks or extras). The cravings are sadly back in full force now though.

I did the challenge just before Christmas. It wasn't as hard as I expected it to be and I felt great. I don't know if it is realistic to continue doing it forever though and after almost 3 months without fructose I have started introducing a bit back in. It's hard to keep it to a minimum though when the cravings start up again.

Oh my heavens. That will teach me not to check the forum for ages. A forum fest that I can drive too. Woohoo! I will probably have to just do a day trip or just stay one night due to work. Count me in. Very exciting! :-)

Am sad, sad, sad, because I just don't think I can come. I've been really struggling to make up my mind. I REALLY want to come but just don't think I'm up to the trip. It would be my third trip to the mainland in six weeks and I still find travelling exhausting after my illness last year. I will be thinking of you all and really wishing I was with you. If ever there is a forum event in the school hols I will have to come along. xox

Well done Tasty. Doesn't it feel great. I became a life member of weight watchers on the weekend and have lost 10kg in twelve weeks. Am finished losing now - just need to maintain.
MJ I have had the same thing happening with medication. I used to have a quick-eze every night at bedtime because of heart burn but haven't had one since starting weight watchers. Perhaps due to smaller portions?? |
