I make the Madras Curry and cut the chicken into small cubes and it only takes about 5 minutes in the bowl with rest of the ingredients and it's lovely and tender.

Gosh you must go through alot of dishes to run the dishwasher 4 times a day.....  I only run mine once BUT I very rarely put my Thermomix Bowl in the dishwasher for some reason.  I dont know why buy I just seem to chuck it under the hot tap when I have finished with it.  Maybe I should run it through the dishwasher and get it all nice and shiny again lol...

I honestly think the key to getting your full money's worth is having it on the bench top.    I made a conscious decision that if I was going to spend that much money then I would have it on the bench top in a very convenient spot (I even moved my kettle lol).... and that I would use it for at least 1 thing every day.

Those people who wouldn't spend $2000 would happily spend $800 on a KitchenAid that doesn't do anything but mix.   Our Thermies do just about everything.  I am sure most of us probably don't use all the other appliances sitting in the cupboard anymore and I bet the prices of all those unused appliances add up.  I am very happy in my decision to spend that money and the best bit is that I ACTUALLY use Thermy EVERY day lol....

Chit Chat / Re: Dumb question about lemon zest
« on: June 11, 2012, 12:35:31 pm »
It's all just a learning process.  For months after I bought Thermie I kept buying caster sugar and ground almonds.   But now I am so used to making my own caster sugar from raw sugar and only buy whole almonds now and grind them myself.  It just takes time to think a little differently  :D

Wouldnt you just peel a piece of lemon rind off your lemon with a peeler and pulverise in the TMX along with the sugar.   I have never zested a lemon since I have had Thermie I just put the peeled piece of skin (minus the pith) in the bowl and blitz!!

Bread / Re: Focaccia very wet
« on: June 04, 2012, 06:52:25 am »
I make this one alot, but changed the recipe, as yes it is too wet.

Try 300g warm water and 500g bakers flour. All other ingred the same.

I only let mine rise once and then press it out onto a lined baking tray with my fingers, top with rosemary/garlic/feta/sundried toms/olives/salt/whatever tickles my fancy at the time...drizzle with a little olive oil and into the oven.

Yum!

Thanks for that....   I have just made it again with less water and it is so much easier to work with and feels so much nicer.    I cant wait to taste this one as I had alot more fun making it as it wasnt running all over the place.
 :) :D

I downloaded this App last night.  It's free at the moment.   Trouble is it doesn't work.  There must be a bug in it that they are fixing but it's definitely free.

Thanks Judydawn.... that thread was very interesting.     I will definitely make it again but next time I think I will prove it in a bowl instead of wrapping it in my thermomat as it was very difficult to get off and just ran everywhere.

Now I know that other people say it was quite wet and sticky at least I know I didnt do anything wrong.

Thanks so much.  :)

Bread / Focaccia very wet
« on: June 03, 2012, 01:53:05 am »
Yesterday i made the Foccacia from the EDC and the dough was very wet and sticky.

Is this dough supposed to be like that.   I followed the recipe exactly!!!!

I found the dough extremely hard to work with and felt like adding more flour but wanted to do it by the book the first time.

It tasted lovely when it was cooked but I didn't really enjoy working with such a sticky mess.

Is this supposed to be a sticky dough?????

Thanks in advance  :)

Bread / Re: Pizza Dough Proving Time
« on: June 01, 2012, 03:16:01 am »
Thanks everyone.   I am getting the impression that its each to there own lol....

It seems either way works.

I did find that the time I left it 90 minutes it ended up being more like a thick foccacia than pizza.   Maybe I will practice several ways and just decide which I prefer.

 :) ;) :D
