I make vanilla slice by making a double quantity of custard from the EDC, and sandwiching it between two layers of SAO biscuits. I then ice with chocolate icing and sprinkle with coconut

we've drowned ours twice!! both times we unplugged it, left it on the bench where it was (recommended by our consultant not to move it at all), and didn't use it for at least 48 hours. came back to life no worries, but they sure were tense 48 hours...

I am going to try to make this tonight. I have never made shortbread before. Can someone explain how you cut the dough into biscuits? I don't have the recipe in front of me, but I think it says to roll it up in baking paper and cut into ovals... How do you cut through the baking paper Sorry if it's a silly question Do you think I'd be able to press/roll it into a dough and cut out shapes, or would I be better pressing it into a pan and slicing it into 'fingers' (before or after cooking)? Thanks

I'm almost ready to start my baby on solids and thought I'd grind up whole grains in Thermomix and try to cook them as well. I have had a quick look on the forum and couldn't find anything, so hopefully I'm not doubling up. I want to convert the recipe below, but not sure if it would be 100C for 10 mins on speed 1 or 2. Any ideas of temp, time and speeds? Maybe I would boil the water (not sure how long a cup would take), add the ground rice on , but then don't know how to simmer using Thermomix Any ideas appreciated Rice Cereal Ingredients: 1/4 c. rice powder (brown rice ground in blender or food processor) 1 cup water Directions: 1. Bring liquid to boil in saucepan. Add the rice powder while stirring constantly. 3. Simmer for 10 minutes, whisking constantly, mix in formula or breast milk and fruits if desired 3. Serve warm. There are also similar recipes I've found for barley and oatmeal cereals.

Thanks for your replies. I guess I was just trying to save myself some work as I thought trying to get the skin off was a hard thing to do I think someone else I know (online) has roasted nuts in Thermomix before, so maybe I'll find out what nuts they were and what temp / how long.

Just wondering if anyone has made these?
The recipe says to roast and skin the hazelnuts. Do you think it would be okay if I didn't do this?
If I should roast them, can I use Thermomix and how long / what temp?
I didn't roast or skin them when I made the hazelnut spread from the EDC, but they were ground up in that recipe and in this one they stay whole...

i made this the other day, and have only just read about it on the forum i used dark cooking chocolate but didn't add the cocoa. i used 50g sugar and i didn't roast or skin the hazelnuts - they just went in as they were. i'm keeping it in the fridge (?) and it has gone quite firm but it is easy to spread and looks creamier on the bread than in the jar. i think it tastes like nutella but maybe that's because it's been quite a while since i've actually bought it from the shop!!

I made this recipe today and baked it in a square tin, around 9 inches. I cooked it on 180 for the 40 mins but it looked very wobbly so cooked it for another 10 or so mins, knife came out wet, cooked another 15 mins and still wet. The outside didn't burn though. Just wondering if the recipe needs to be edited to say that it should be moist and remove the part saying the skewer should come out clean??? Here I was thinking I'd cooked a dud (but a yummy dud!) however it sounds like others have had the same thing happen.
Also, how high should the end result be? Mine was about 2cm...

okay thanks, i'll try mixing with the spatula.
the carrot was already grated, so don't think it would have been a large chunk issue.
the cake was great, would recommend trying it!

This is my favourite bread to make and eat... it is so easy, just kneed it in TM and then scrape into pan... My almost 3 year old eats it too which is good

I made the Carribean Carrot Cake the other day. It was yummy although slightly undercooked, but I had to transfer the mixture to another bowl and mix in the carrot and cocount. Didn't matter what speed I put TM on, it wouldn't mix together. Sounded like the blades just wouldn't turn...
Has anyone else had this happen? And was yours undercooked for the time stated in the EDC?
It also happened when I was trying to mix popcorn in a recipe from the snacks cookbook.

I've tried Googling a Thermomix recipe for Lemon Sauce, i.e. to cook lemon chicken, similar to takeaway from a Chinese shop. Has anyone come across one or have a recipe in another cookbook they can convert?

Hi, my name is Amanda. Our household has had Bimby for the last 8 days and we have used her every day so far, usually multiple times! Love risottos and custards. Quickly finding out we will need lots of eggs, oil and garlic! Have had many stuff ups too, including not reading the recipe properly, over-weighing ingredients and forgetting the mc! Not to worry, sure we'll improve with practice... Have used the recipe section here to plan our menu for the week, so look forward to the end results.
