Today I made chocolate custard  from the EDC cookbook (reduced the amount of sugar way down).
Also baked a loaf of bread, crackers and choc nut cookies.

I have made the basic bread from the EDC three times now.
The first time I made them into buns, let them rise once and then cooked - turned out too hard.
The other two times I made loaves and let them rise one, knocked back/kneaded and then rise again and they were beautiful loaves.
I used the 300mls and whole grains 100g and 400g plain flour.

Turned out light and airy and delicious.

Chit Chat / Re: Kitchen Appliances
« on: November 21, 2009, 11:22:52 am »
It seems that most people have kept their other kitchen appliances and I think I will be hanging onto mine for a while too.

It is interesting because before I brought my TM the demonstrator was saying that if I had a TM I wouldn't have a need for the rest - rice cooker, breadmaker, blender, etc.
But so far I have used the breadmaker and rice cooker, not the rest yet.

Chit Chat / Re: Does anyone in Perth want some wheat?
« on: November 19, 2009, 10:23:19 am »
I don't need wheat but I do have a question.
I have access to unlimited supply of export wheat but have been concerned that it may be treated or sprayed?
It isn't organic but I have been using it to grind nto flour for breadmaking.

Any ideas what happen sto export grade wheat as far as treatments etc?

I made this yestrday and next time I will change it a bit.
I will halve the sugar and use dark chocolate with a higher cacoa percent.
I really liked how it was grainier than shop brought nutella.  I loved the nutty /grainy texture.

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Re: Recipe Review - Mushroom Soup - EDC
« on: November 19, 2009, 03:43:04 am »
I made this and it was tasty.  But I didn't like the brown colour of the soup.  I didn't have cream so I substituted yoghurt.  Maybe cream would have made the colour more appetising like shown in the photo.
It was still delicious though.

Think I am hooked!

I've now made potato cakes, hommus dip, berry icecreams for the ice cream moulds and more bread.

Introduce Yourself / It has arrived

And I am very excited!

Today I have made
sorbet - mango/banana
basic bread
cucumber/yoghurt dip
mushroom soup
hazelnut/chocolate spread.

And normally after that amount of cooking the kitchen would be trashed but there was hardly anything but the tm to clean up.
