Chit Chat / Re: Eating out of pantry and freezer

When labelling for the freezer, if the zip-lock bag or box the item is in is transparent I just put the label inside the  bag or box, facing outward . It can go no further that way.

Tips and Tricks / Re: Perfect yogurt
« on: May 08, 2014, 10:52:42 am »
I,like to use a Greek yoghurt as my initial starter, it makes a beautiful 'set' yoghurt .jalna make it in a small jar which means it is a cheap way to start it. After the first batch I use what I have made to start the subsequent batches of course. Next time I intend to try adding the cream, that sounds delicious.

Chit Chat / Re: veg stock concentrate
« on: November 03, 2013, 09:53:27 am »
Everyone, except me, seems to love the vegetable stock concentrate. The first time I made it was  a couple of years ago soon after first getting my Thermomix, it tasted disgusting and I threw it out as I thought perhaps I had done something wrong  - even though I was pretty sure that I had followed the recipe carefully. I tried it again a couple of days ago, and  halved  the amount of salt called for in the book, but it still tasted like pure salt, without any hint of the taste of the vegetables.  It is still in the fridge but I am reluctant to use it instead of real  stock, or even instead of commercial stock powder, as I cannot imagine that it can add any flavour apart from that of salt. What is the difference between using a teaspoon of vegie stock concentrate and using a teaspoon of salt?
Am I missing something, doing something wrong?

Chit Chat / Re: What other Kitchen thingy would you buy besides a Thermie
« on: October 07, 2013, 07:44:58 am »
Despite having the Thermie  I'd buy a Hot Mix pro,(the really very expensive version that freezes as well, I cannot think what the model name is at the moment - if I had the money LOL)  and although I love my big Kenwood Chef mixer I do wish now that I had spent the extra money and got the Kenwood Cooking Chef.

Introduce Yourself / Old-ish newbie from Bendigo, Vic

Hi everyone. I am  delighted both that this forum exists and that I have been able to become a member. My Thermomix was delivered two days ago and I am having fun with it already. I have not been able to bring myself to giving away my Kenwood mixer yet -  but its nose has been seriously put out of joint.
