Perfect yogurt

I have discovered that the way to make perfect yogurt is to use unhomogonised milk :)

I follow the EDC instructions except I make 2L at a time - use organic unhomogonised milk and some yogurt from my last batch and that is all. Nothing else added and beautiful and creamy.

The first batch wasn't creamy so I made labneh with it but still used that as a starter and from then on they have been perfect. I still make 500ml-1L or labneh a week b/c I make sweet and savoury and use it instead of fetta and goats cheese (or icing if using sweet) and I use the whey in cooking or to soak beans. It is brilliant stuff.

2L costs me $6 so I am getting cheaper and better quality yogurt.

Where do you purchase your un homogenised milk from zebraa?
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I think the Pauls's brand milk is unhomogenised :)

Yes, I make yogurt with unhomogenised milk and it's beautiful. I do add milk powder though. Do you think there's no need to do that?

Hi Brumington - I have found there is no need to after the 2nd batch. My kids have given me the compliment that it is 'just like the shop's'

Pauls 1L organic is unhomogonised but I also buy 2L unhomogonised from a local IGA.

I'll try it next time without then. Thank you. I do admit in my first batch to maybe putting in a bit if cream too! Devine! I use the 4 Real Milk. I love it.

I use b.d.Paris Creek organic and unhomogenized milk.
This is available in south Australia.
I makes perfect yogurt every time with nothing added.
I use Whole milk or skimmed whatever we have . We use this milk all the time it is local and beautiful.
I use their natural yogurt as a starter if I need to.
Beautiful yogurt every time.

You can also add cream to homogenised milk for the same result when making yoghurts or fetta cheeses.

I use 50 grams cream to a litre of milk.

I also use unhomogenised milk (Margaret River Organic found in most supermarkets in WA) and Jalna Bio Dinamic yoghurt for the starter. Just use the milk and no powder. Turns out good each time.

I,like to use a Greek yoghurt as my initial starter, it makes a beautiful 'set' yoghurt .jalna make it in a small jar which means it is a cheap way to start it. After the first batch I use what I have made to start the subsequent batches of course. Next time I intend to try adding the cream, that sounds delicious.
