Chit Chat / Re: Our Next Challenge - comfort food
« on: August 15, 2014, 08:41:58 am »
Comfort food for me is savoury, like hearty soups, creamy pasta dishes, cheesy pizza.

Tonight is Chicken and Brown Rice Soup (just made, added a tin of creamed corn), Pink Alfredo Tortellini, and cheesy garlic pizza (dough is resting in 2nd bowl).

Hope that meats the challenge guidelines.

Love all the photos.  Has given me some wonderful ideas, esp love the apricot stuffing have printed it off.  Just have to get to town and hope they still have quail available.

I did find a recipe for a pie that has the little quail leg poking out of the top, very cute.

Here are the little birds butterflied and then salt and peppered.  The final photo ended up blury, to much of a hurry.

Hope that works

I made salt and pepper baked quail last night and served it on chicken ravioli with a sort of carbonara sauce.

The quail was really delicious, not gamey at all but was a nice full flavour with a hint of sweetness, which went lovely with the salt and pepper combination.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it and I will be cooking them again.

Have a couple of photos but can't post them.

Gert  do you have any recipes in mind that your wouldn't mind sharing.

I actually bought a pack last Tuesday when I was  in town, but have never cooked them before.

Will watch and may join.

I'm Arcadia and I'm number 42.

We all love the chicken and cashews with Coconut Satay Sauce, and also the paprika chicken and fried rice, and chicken stock and everything else I have made.

Chicken and cashews with coconut satay sauce and coconut rice.  We just love it.

Last night we had Pumpkin soup with coconut/cardamom panna cotta, then roast pork with the usual suspects.

You could see a TM on the bench when the WA best friends cooked, but they never used it.

From all the talk of KFC that is what we are having with mash, coleslaw and corn cobs.

I like pomegranate.

I made these last week for the school lunch box.  None of mine made it to the freezer and I have been asked to make more for the lunch box, that job tomorrow.  Love sneaking the vege into the dough.

Have made pancakes for brekky/brunch, carrot cake made as cupcakes for DS1, chocolate cake as cupcakes for DS2 and coffee cake for DH, just need to let it all cool then ice.  Lunch boxes should be right for another week, then will do it all again.

Superb absolutely.

I have made 3 loaves of bread, lasagne, shepards pie, curried sausages, non packet devilled sausages, vanilla ice cream, custard, and just made a tomato sauce topping thing for chicken parmis for tea tonight.

Made the mango icecream like a Weiss bar yesterday, yum yum yum.  Have a glut and will do for some time of Mangoes, so also made a mango coleslaw last night for dinner with a coconut dressing.  http://blog.seasonwithspice.com/2013/07/asian-coleslaw-with-coconut-dressing.html

Thanks for bumping.

Have just made this to go with some rib fillet steak.  I added 2 tbsp brandy and reduced the tomato sauce to 1.5tbsp, and also added bacon.

The taste I have had is delicious.
