Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Chicken Cacciatore - Meat on the Menu
« on: May 19, 2010, 07:55:33 am »
Made this the other night and was impressed!
I did use chicken thighs (with the bone still in) as they were on special and I didn't have drumsticks....   :)
I have to say it was weird putting meat with the bone in but the taste was fantastic - Loved it.
Quick, easy, yummy - what more could I ask for???

5/5

Still loving this cookbook    ;)

Cakes / Re: Themomix Sponge - yes, it can be done!

This is also my mum/grandma's sponge recipe!

Our family birthday tradition..  Can't wait to try in my TM.

Cathy - the Tuscan Bread and Tomato Soup  pg 13 except I don't do the bread, just the soup.. Quick and easy, cheap and cheerful.

But the best in the book in my opinion is the Coconut Chicken  pg 18 - YUM YUM YUM    ;D ;D
Easy to make, tastes great, costs diddly squat and will stretch a long way if you do rice and vegies with it too - an all round winner in my books!

Please can someone give me the proper pronunciation for Gozleme???????  I had the most delicious one at the Freo Markets a few weeks ago and want to try that (Budget Busters pg 8)  Not that I can't make it without pronouncing it!!!!!

Tenina - I'm loving the Meat book!
My second fav is the Budget Busters too...

I actually like the format of our Australian books better than the International ones as ours are just so much easier to follow!
(although their pictures are nice)

All in all I am one very happy user!    ;D ;D ;D

Oh my!!!   :o

I make pasta but had no idea you could do that!!!!  I'm sooooo impressed.

I've got a bench top pasta roller that I picked up from the op shop for $10 yrs ago and it's great but can only do sheets, fettucini and spaghetti. I've got a Kenwood but dreamed of a nice red Kitchen Aid on my bench (well until I got my TM that is.................)

Looks amazing though - well done Julie.

I made this on the weekend - was beautiful in both looks and taste.
I wouldn't have tried it if I hadn't seen this thread so thanks!   :)

Yep - I'm in full agreement with this one too!
I made the Thai Beef Salad tonight and it was delicious (but will actually stirfry the beef in the wok next time as it sort of boiled rather than stirfried)
I've got about 4 recipes from this cookbook down for this fortnights menu plan so will let you know how they all go!

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Cyndi's steamed fish with potato mash
« on: April 15, 2010, 02:59:15 pm »
Ok - here is my very first recipe review...

Cyndi O'Meara's Steamed fish with potato mash - pg 31  Healthy Eating with Cyndi O'Meara.

Made this tonight and was truly unimpressed........
Used really good quality fish, steamed some vegies with it but the flavour was lacking any depth - was pretty boring to be honest.

On the other hand we can't get enough of the Asian style fish in the EDC that is used for the Varoma Demos - Yum yum yum...

Thanks for that - I love this forum!

Found some great ones - just need to convert them (maybe - or just do them as is!)

Thanks Chookie

I've got a great recipe that came with my waffle maker - very similar to yours,  was just trying to get an original Belgium one that utilises the pearl sugar.  Might try and tweak mine/yours and include the pearl sugar - looks like I've got homework.......

Recipe Requests / Belgian Waffle Recipe Anyone?
« on: April 14, 2010, 12:43:44 pm »
Hi all,

Hubby's dad is Belgian and grew up with "proper waffles" which are made with pearl sugar..
We have sourced the sugar (it goes in the recipe and when cooked gives the waffle a beautiful caramelised surface)  but I need a decent recipe - hubby is making one that takes HOURS to make!
I've done a search but want one for the TM if possible??

Thanks
Linda

Thanks Thermomixer - I'm good!

Hubby is using it for everything now - I went to make quesadilla filling in my electric frypan quickly after work and halfway through cooking he asked why I wasn't using the TM.  I said "boy you really ARE a convert now arn't you?"
HE said "we paid enough for it - use it"!!!!!!!  Aaaaah - men.

I did the Asian style fish last night and it was AMAZING   ;)  made the hollandaise sauce this morning - very ho hum....... :(

Note to self - cheddar cheese does NOT take very long to grate....  And brown rice doesn't work in the risotto.....   :-[

Hi to you Cath!  Yep - we are totally under the spell here too..

Judydawn - I need to familiarise myself with writing reviews.....?  I'm still a bit of a techno dummy   ???

I have tweaked a lot of EDC recipes - ie WAAAAAYYYY too much salt in the bread dough for our liking and it retards the yeast.  I made awesome rolls the other night for the kids lunches - will learn how to post photos.  (If I can drag myself away from my machine long enough that is!)
