Thanks for this recipe. We have recently taken to buying Apple Tea Cakes at the French Bread shop in Merredin on the way to or from Perth and I had said to my dh that I would start making them at home, so glad that I found this easy one. It will be on my list to make this week.

Cookie, I was looking through my TMX cookbooks the other day and discovered this recipe in the Festive Cookbook but with weight measurements. I used that recipe as I needed to make another batch and the book was handy. Must say it wasn't quite the same. Much preferred the ones I'd made using your recipe. Greyhoundmum, would be interested to hear back about how it freezes. We just keep it in the fridge and eat it up over the course of a week if it doesn't get eaten at the occasion.

DJ are you adding TMX stock to your hampers? They last for six months and are something most people would use. I am lost without my TMX stock in the fridge. Just put a note on the label to advice how much to use, given it is concentrated. I have used the cookie mixes in the jar too for family presents and they work really well. I did really big jars with double the mix for my sister's family as there are 4 children. I used one of the older style big coffee jars. The layers do look great. Another idea would be bath bombs. I made them one year and they worked out quite well. Something nice for the girls in the family or for your friends. Wrapped in cellophane with a nice ribbon, they look great.

I like Best Recipes and have found that if I read the recipe reviews and don't pick recipes that haven't been reviewed (unless there are limited #s of recipes for the one I am after & therefore need to use an un-reviewed recipe) I have ended up with some great recipes and have even managed to convert some for the TMX.

I have a 7 yr old DD who isn't too keen on soup so have started using the soups I make as sauce for pasta. I make sure I blitz the soup I am going to use for her pasta. I recently made cauliflower soup which I called "white soup" and she wouldn't eat it so I cooked up some pasta later and poured some of the soup over it and and she came back asking for more. Three bowls in the end. The rest of us like to eat the soup but she gets pasta & "sauce".

Have only just checked out the forum today after not being on for a while and am sorry I have missed reading this thread before. Would loved to have come. Sounds like it is going to be full of laughs. Will have to keep my eyes open for details of next year's Thermofest. Great hoot reading all 33 pages of this thread. Have fun and will look forward to the photos.

Thanks for the recipe. Love to have GF & dairy free recipes on hand. I have made biscuits with chickpeas and they are great too so will be keen to give this cake a go when there are no eyes watching to see what the ingredients are.

During our spell of hot weather last week. I had more chicken than the recipe asked for and cooked it all, increasing the cooking time accordingly. Unfortunately, I found the chicken a bit dry but other than that it was a lovely salad which I would have again. I would possibly try chicken thighs next time in the hope of them being more tender. I think that if you wanted to you could substitute the chicken for prawns and it would taste very nice too. 4/5

Have just been looking at the reviews for the Meat on the Menu Cookbook and discovered that no one has reviewed this salad. It was probably one of the first things I tried in this cookbook when I got it last year.
I love this salad. It is so easy to make. I often steam a few chicken breasts and pop some in the freezer to make prep next time easier. I use craisins rather than the seedless grapes. Did make it with the grapes once and they were okay I just prefer the craisins. It is a nice moist salad and I give it a 5/5. Must say though that my teenagers don't like it as much as a chicken caesar salad. I have used it on wraps too and as long as you don't put too much dressing on it it is fine.
Am going to be trying a few more of the salads from the cookbook in the next week or so, so will endeavour to post some more reviews as not many of the salads have been reviewed.

Mary Brown & Goldfish, I have sent the recipe to you as I'm not sure what the rules are on the forum for posting recipes from the recipe books as it may affect the sales of the books. Am happy if others know differently but I'm going to err on the side of caution.
