Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: soup problem« on: March 24, 2012, 02:15:34 am »
Thanks for the help.
I just tried the tomato soup out of Tenina's new book, For Foods Sake. I followed the directions exactly. Suted the leek and olive oil for 5 mins/Varoma/ speed 2. I then added all the other ingredients which was 600g of toms, tomato paste, veggie stock, 400g water orange juice and zest and a handful of parsley and basiil leaves. Cooked it 14mins/100/speed 2. Blend 1 min/speed 5-6 ( I did this for nearly 5 mins off and on trying to get it smooth. Thanks again for the help. Trish 3

Hi All,
I've been making some blended soups but they never seem to go smooth no matter how long I blend. Just tried a tomato soup and it ended up with stringy bits of tomato skin and gritty bits from the seeds. I did strain it but then it was very watery. Thanks for any advice or help, soup in the thermomix seems to be my nemesis. Trish 4

Hi All,
My machine is a few days old and I'm a little confused about the measuring cup. Do you leave it on the machine when it is running unless the recipe specifically says to take it off? Hope that question made sense. thanks Quasar 9

Hi Hestonfan,
I have only been getting into chocolate recently and am working my way through Grewling's and Wybauw's wonderful books, which I have found really helpful. Pastry/dessert work is a hobby and I really need to improve my chocolate skills but I am sure I will find lots of uses for the thermomix regardless of the tempering issues. I like to make my own fruit and vegetables powders so I am thinking that the thermomix will be useful for getting a fine grind, still thinking up other possible uses. If you ever want to chat about pastry, give me a PM. Quasar 10

Thanks all for the nice welcome and the offers of help.
My consultant has talked me into having the delivery demo so that should give me the information I need to start using my thermomix. My kitchen is my 'happy place' so I am sure I will be making good use of my new 'baby'. Hestonfan (I'm a big fan too), I noticed you mentioned chocolate work as one of your cooking interests. Have you tried using the thermie for keeping chocolate at temper? Hugs Quasar 11

Hi All,
I am ready to 'push the button' and get my own thermomix as my husband is begging me to get one so he doesn't have to hear me deliberate any longer. I am not a 'party' person and just want to order one without the demo etc. How do I get in touch with a consultant that works in the Sutherland Shire Sydney? looking forward to getting to know everyone. Hugs Quasar
