Worked beautifully with the orange zest in it. Thanks JD for the quantities of the other ingredients! I just put raw sugar and orange zest in first, blitzed it on speed 9 for about 20 secs, then added the butter, speed 4 for about 30 secs, then added brandy, speed 4 for another 30 secs, popped it in a container and back into the fridge to firm up again. We have it with fruit mince pies and plum puddings.....yum YUM!!

Hi Jen, Sorry to hear about you buttermilk scone issues. I remember the same thing happening when I first tried them. I'm pretty sure I was told that the quantity in the book is ok if you're using shop-bought buttermilk, as it's thicker than the homemade version. I agree it's very frustrating that no note has been made of this in the latest edition of the EDC though. That's the only recipe that I've noticed a big issue with. Re. the forums, I think it's been changing to a different server or something over the past week, so there have been a few hiccups in that process. I've not been on here a whole lot yet, but have never known it to do that previously, so I'm sure it will all settle down now.

To be launched on December 15th.....at www.recipecommunity.com.au Looks like it'll have some good features like ability to share recipes on FB etc. Good way to get Thermomix in the public eye even more!

It looks like it'll actually be more than just FB pages etc. It's going to be a whole website which looks like a Thermomix hosted forum to share recipes etc. Interesting.

I *think* it's a sort of cracked green wheat. I've been trying to find it to no avail as yet. Anyone in Perth know where to get some?

Thanks so much for all your efforts in hunting that down judydawn! The very strange part is that I had actually replied to this thread, shortly after I asked that question, after I too found the answer on Jo (quirkycooking)'s blog, but my post seems to have completely disappeared! Maybe something to do with the forum going down around then....I don't know. Thank you very much anyway!

*Bump* This looks very yummy! I've been looking for some things to make and give as gifts for Christmas, and came across this, and think it may fit the bill! Judydawn, what is the frozen saucer trick? I've not made any jams before, so have never heard of this.

Can't offer any advice on the waffle cone making, but re the icecream, I make a super-simple icecream for my kids, that is sugar-free, and has nothing but fruit, and they love it! I keep some peeled & frozen bananas in the freezer, then just throw in 2-3 bananas (break up into 3-4 pieces as putting in bowl), and a handful of frozen berries. Whizz it up on about speed 5-6 for about 30secs, then scrape down sides of bowl and whizz for a few more secs, and hey presto, you have icecream! The creaminess comes from the frozen bananas. Can also do with frozen mango pieces instead of the berries, for a yum alternative.

Hi and welcome! I'm a newbie here on the forum too, and live not too far from you (a bit further north). I've also recently become a Thermomix consultant because I love it so much. So far I'm really enjoying it! I hope you do too. Sounds like you've been cooking up a storm. Bet your family is loving it too. My DH has been telling people it's a good thing we got married when we did (8yrs ago), as if he married me now, there'd be questions over his intention for marrying me, seeing as I'm a domestic goddess now, thanks to the Thermomix! (his words ) He says it's all about having the right tools, and obviously the Thermomix is the tool I was missing previously. With the risotto, I put 1100g water in, and like Shayla said, it's quite liquid when you first pour it into the Thermoserver, but after a few minutes, it is just perfect.

Thanks for your welcomes! cookie1, I'm a SOR (quite SOR infact). judydawn, are you a consultant too? Looking forward to getting to know you all, and sharing our experiences. I made hollandaise sauce for the first time tonight, and couldn't believe how well it turned out! I have an upcoming demo for a commercial kitchen, and they asked me to demonstrate that (in addition to a whole lot of other things), so needed to practise it first! I am constantly amazed at the capabilities of my little kitchen friend!

Well I've finally taken the plunge and joined. Have popped in here now and then browsing for recipes, and have finally found a minute to join up so I can become more a part of things around here. I've owned my Thermomix for about 16 months, and am so in love it that a few months ago I became a Thermomix consultant! My friends kept urging me to become a consultant after I raved on and on about it. I love it for so many reasons....top of my list would have to be health. I have a real passion for healthy eating. We eat predominantly organic, and completely preservative/additive free. I am also really interested in raw food, and have dabbled with that quite a bit more since having the Thermomix. Of course I also love all the other things that go with owning a Thermomix....saving lots of time, money, the lessened environmental impact created by using less power and less packaging, etc. I would not have called myself a cook in my pre-Thermomix days (just didn't have the time), but it really has revolutionised my kitchen, and now I turn out all sorts of things that I never would have dreamed of doing. I live in Perth, WA, and have a 4yr old daughter and a nearly 13yr old step-daughter. Looking forward to meeting you all and sharing our knowledge and experiences.
