Always an inspiration Maddy thanks for sharing.

I've attached my attempts at clown pops for my DS 1st birthday.  I couldn't make them the same so made the decision to make each one different.

Also tried these today.  My microwave doesn't heat very evenly.  when the ends were soft the middle of the stick was rock hard.  When the middle was soft the ends had exploded.

I'll keep trying, no photos of the mess I made.

Raining today, so we played bathtub fishing this morning.

I put shredded blue cellophane paper in the bath, and scatter little fish which have magnets attached and DD fishes with her fishing rod with a magnet on the end.  hours of fun.  When we are finished just scoop everything back into a plastic bag for next time.  Put the plug in first so stuff doesn't go down the drain.

I'm glad you are excited about spending time with the kids Robyn.  I have very fond memories of the summer holidays as a kid.

It is always sad to hear parents complaining about school holidays and how they are going to entertain the kids.  It only takes a little imagination or a quick internet search and you can create a list so long that the holidays will fly past without breaking the bank balance.

Thanks for the tutorial Maddy.  I'm assuming you could do the same with the fruit sticks, the ones that look like musk sticks.  The ones that come in different colours.

Thanks Wonder, I have a few parties leading up to christmas and thought this might be good.  I can make a big batch and then just fill what I need on the day.  Will also experiment with freezing and see how they go.

Chit Chat / Re: Are there any backyard veggie gardeners here?

Haven't been on lately, but have loved reading through everyone's success in the garden.

We have raspberries, snow peas, silverbeet, asian greens, broccoli, garlic, potatoes all ready at the moment.  Enjoying being out in the sunshine with the kids in the garden.  My daughter won't eat her veggies at the dinner table but is happy eating straight from the garden.  Can't get any fresher than that.

Thanks Judy for finding the links.

I'm in the process of developing a spreadsheet of ideas that I can try over the year, work out quantities, whether they freeze well, how long they take to make etc.

Thanks Judy.  Johnro the dessert buffet looks beautiful.  I've been collecting and looking through everyone's cupboards to find cake stands and pretty serving platters.

Chit Chat / Menu Ideas for a High Tea Wedding Reception
« on: December 10, 2012, 08:21:40 am »
Hi All - sorry I've been missing in action for the last couple of months, a few family dramas but it should all work itself out.

Anyway on a happier note, I've started planning my wedding for March 2014.  We have decided on a family friendly wedding during the day so we are having a High Tea themed wedding.  Due to budget restrictions we will be having it at home and doing the catering ourselves.  I've been busy visiting op shops for vintage china (cups/saucers/small plates) all mismatched, cut glass champagne glasses etc.  Have searched through Mum's cupboards and found a swag of lace table clothes etc.

Which leads me to this to this topic.  I'm looking for ideas for savoury finger food (cold and hot) (which will be passed around) and dessert finger food (which will be set up on a table)  I'm hoping the TMX will be getting a good workout in the lead up to the wedding.

Thanks for your help - I know there is a wealth of information here.

Looks like this is a winner.  Will have to try it out.  Can anyone tell me the best way to store the cooked Choux pastry?  and how many days it may last.

Thanks

Went to Red Hill market on Saturday and picked up some cookie cutters from Bisk Art. (santa, reindeer, and 2 dinosaurs) Also got some tea towels, calico bag and creamed honey.

The dinosaur cookie cutters have worked a treat with my daughter, have stamped out potato, pumpkin, sandwiches and they all get eaten.  Will have to try other shapes, maybe small heart carrots etc

I purchased the new Annabel Langbein - Simple Pleasures from Big W.  I have really enjoyed her first book and this one is also filled with some interesting things.

Thanks everyone, I did say yes.  I was going to hold out on the answer given I had to wait so long but the answer popped out before I could even think.  How could you not say yes to the 3 pictured below.
