Suggestions and Complaints / Blades comparisons HMP vs TMX?
« on: December 03, 2012, 06:22:18 am »
Hi,

My HMP comes with a blunt blade as their standard package. I  wonder if I need a sharp blade $200++ each for grinding cinnamon sticks or grains?

I never owned a TMX so i wonder how long does it take to grind wheat or spelt to fine powder consistency when you're using your TMX? I followed speed 10 with 2 min and found my wheat (250g) still coarse and need further 1 min of speed 10 of work. Cinnamon sticks never as fine and rice grain size of the cinnamon stick still present after minutes of grinding  :(

Any thermomixer owners have tried both machines please share your thoughts with me.

wow mamacheng!  we could do with some of those right now!!  Could you tell us how to make them? :D

Hi Goldfish,

Sorry to reply this late but here I'm. I only make small amount of these as we don't like kids take too much sugar, just while he is coughing a bit.

So I used..

100g sugar
100ml of honey(I use a bit of Manuka honey with Lucerne honey)
30ml lemon juice

On speed 1 at 150'c

If you like to make a bigger batch just double the amount.

Once honey sugar reached 150'c pour onto baking paper or silicon mat. I will try this recipe another time as I found the syrup seems a bit on the burn side tonight.
My last batch was stop cooking at about 140'c and taste much nicer. However that older batch didn't set as hard as tonight's.

Ops, burnt batch

My first batch, not burning version for colour comparison.

Thank you all for your warm welcome posts.

I made porridge for breaky today but DS didn't have appetite for it. Soup at lunch time was a battle. So I made bread - Taiwan bread because I know he loves bread. He ate some and we love it too. Was quite happy with myself. Hopefully I can have more success with bread making as I usually stuff them up.

Here is a photo :)

Hi Cheng, welcome to our forum.  We are first and foremost a TMX forum but do have a few members with other machines and have welcomed them with open arms.  There are many people interested in the HPM machine so they will probably following your postings with interest.   Our recipes are for the TMX so you may need to adapt them to your machine as they are all a little different.
You sound as if you have an Asian background so your beautiful chicken stock soups would be ideal for your children if they are unwell.  Perhaps try my chicken and veggie soup recipe - it seems to be popular with members.  Enjoy your time on here.

Thanks Judy :)

Yes, I'm Chinese Malaysian so please bear with me when I use my pigeon English :) I'm looking forward to share some of my Asian recipe when I get to work out how to convert to thermomixer cooking better. Will be a while I'm afraid, this is a new adventure for me and my family''s tummies ;) TY for sharing your chicken veg recipe! It looked yummy :)

Hi all,

I'm Cheng, a mum with 2 kids DS 3 yo and DD 2yo. I must confessed I don't have a Thermomix. After I read some hero members reviews. there is a HMP Gastro in my kitchen at the moment. Very excited to learning a new way to prepare more than just meals. The first section I read here are non food bits. I love the idea making laundry powder with velvet soaps lol

So please be gentle with me :) I will try not asking too many silly questions. I love this place already, so many lovely people and much to learn :D

On the learning note, would anyone have tips on meals plan for kids with colds and coughs? Both mine are a bit sick so my body is still quite tired at the moment. TIA.

Cheng
