Chit Chat / Re: Has anyone ever made pop tarts?
« on: April 06, 2012, 01:06:48 pm »
They would be something I would make, probably in miniature as a morning tea snack and not for breakfast. We do very little "gratuitous sugar" here as my kids get too hyped up but homemade bikkies or mini pop tarts with rapadura appeals to me. And I also love the challenge of trying to make things rather than buying them. I would never buy pop tarts. Yuk! lol I'd also like to share the recipes with my friend who bought them for her kids.

I had a squizz on google and found a few and thanks CC I will look up the links to breakfast bars. Thank you  :)

Chit Chat / Has anyone ever made pop tarts?
« on: April 06, 2012, 04:11:25 am »
A friend posted in Facebook this morning that she introduced her kids to pop tarts and she commented on how sugary they are. As my kids react to too much sugar and we use almost exclusive rapadura I wondered if I could make my own.

Any suggestions?

About to go and trawl google to see what I can find.

I've been asked to make bread for a Chrissy party on the weekend and then last minute sprung with a "can you make some gluten free too please" in the sort of tone that isn't really an ask ??? so thank goodness for this recipe. I have a little gf flour and some rice flour so going to use that and see how it comes out. If it doesn't work I'm going to have to buy some gf flour but will let you know how it works.

Just made the red curry risotto and it''s delicious! No capsicum in mine but it's still enough to appeal to my hubby who is not a risotto fan.  :)

Recipe Requests / Re: Ice-cream recipe help needed
« on: November 07, 2011, 07:51:37 am »
Just to share (more than a little late) my icecream recipe. I make thermy condensed milk from a recipe on the forum http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2347.0 - 6 cups milk to 4.5 cups raw sugar and I store it in 300ml cream containers. I use 1 container of condensed milk to 600ml cream.
Whip the cream til very stiff and just before it starts to yellow into butter, then add the condensed milk and a splash of vanilla. Scrape down the sides and butterfly until smooth and creamy. Freeze and serve.

Starters and Snacks / Re: Sausage rolls

I was just looking to make my own and read through the post. Looking at the coles sausage mince it's only 70% meat and I'd be stunned if it wasn't just snouts and trotters etc which is pretty revolting to think about. I reckon you could make them with mince padded out with veggies and breadcrumbs. Well, that's what I'm going to try. And since it's feeding a bunch of 3yo's I doubt they'll complain too hard.  :P
