« on: June 12, 2012, 09:24:11 am »
Can I make a white sauce & steam cauliflower in the varoma at the same time? Sorry clueless

I always do it separately.

No Hally, the sauce is cooked at 90o and steaming is at varoma temp.

Have a look at some of the recipes in all-in-one meals Hally.

You need the varoma temperature to steam things.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Don't you even use the varoma to steam your vegies Hally?

I always steam my vegies before roasting them. Also, when cooking rice or potato in the basket, I have vegies in the Varoma.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

We have steamed veggies most nights with the varoma and steaming basket. Its so easy.
And having 2 bowls I usually prepare all the veggies in the bowl, Varoma and steaming basket while the mains are cooking in the TM (depending what we are having of cause)
I love steamed veggies :)

I've used mine twice this week which is a bit of a record for me. Very proud of myself!

I love steamed veggies :)

Good for the weight loss challenge Mandi ;)

I want to start using our Varoma more for steaming chicken and seafood, but I have just mastered how to steam them perfectly in our new oven and I don't want to risk trying them in the Varoma and overcooking them. That would just ruin a lovely piece of fish or chicken.

It would be fair to say that a chicken is exactly what I am :-))
