Wow, even 'The Australian' has Thermomix in it. The recipe looks fun, might convince the family they need to try something with pears in.

Tasbel did you actually use Poire William (pear brandy, very expensive!!) or did you substitute it with something.  I've done some googling and come up with using a good brandy & some canned pear nectar or for a non-alcoholic substitute, the syrup from a can of pears.  Be interested to learn what you used or any ideas from others for a substitute other than those mentioned above.

we used pear liqueaur from a local winery, it is the most devine dessert drink (not at the moment due to being pregnant :()
avaliable here http://www.panoramavineyard.com.au/wines.html

worth using the liqueur as it really adds to the taste.

$20 a bottle is a really good price, some on the internet started @ $95 ??? ??? ???  Have emailed a local wine shop to see what they stock and how much.  Thanks tasbell.

I wonder if an apple liquer would do? I guess it would be ok. I bought some in Burra last year at the apple cidery place and haven't even opened it yet! (Too busy eating stuff I bought at Maggie Beers and Beerenburg, not to mention Seppeltsfield).
Let us know how it goes Judy. My family aren't too fond of pear things. :P

i think that apple could be substituted as it has the same sort of consistancy when cooked.

Had some of the left over pear mixture in my porridge this morning and it was very yummy.

When you visit our State Cookie1, you certainly do the rounds of the food/wine places.  I live here and haven't been to 2 of those places myself ??? ??? Guess it's always the way.  Of course, I have been to Seppetsfield, a long time ago though.

Had an answer to my email - their cheapest Pear Liqueur is $34 a bottle.  I was wondering if you can buy Schnapps in a pear flavour - anyone know?  I'll check it out next time I drive past a wine outlet. I'm sure you can get it in different flavours. Other than that I could use some cognac which is just sitting there not being used and mix that with some pear juice - should certainly give the souffle some flavour.

Good Karen, thought it was a possibility.  Can check that one out easily enough from the local bottle shop and hopefully it's not as expensive as other brands.

Liquorland has a Peach Schnapps for $30 a bottle which is OK thanks tasbell - I would worry that a bottle going through the mail would get broken and we'd hate to see that happen:D :D :D  Thanks for your kind offer.  :-* :-*

Hi Belinda

I'm in Huonville (just around the corner from the Panorama Restaurant) & have had my Thermy since early August   ;D

Those souffles look seriously fantastic!
