Toblerone Cheesecake
« on: June 30, 2012, 01:09:42 am »
Has anyone made the Toblerone cheesecake featured in Thermomix newsletter dated April 2011? Was thinking of making this today as we are having a big family brunch at our place tomorrow and want to let everyone see what TMX can do.   ;)

update
This cheesecake was delicious. Will definitely make it again but would not grate the chocolate topping so finely. I think a bit coarser would give a bit more texture but flavour was great and filling was perfectly set without gelatine. Yummy

RECIPE
TOBLERONE CHEESECAKE
Ingredients
200g chocolate biscuits
80g butter
60g almonds
500g block cream cheese
100g sugar
200g Toblerone milk or dark chocolate, melted
50g thickened cream
Additional 200g Toblerone milk or dark chocolate

Method
Place biscuits and almonds in TM bowl and mill for 10 seconds on speed 8. Set aside.
Add butter to bowl and melt for 2 minutes at 60°C on speed 1.
Add ground almonds and biscuits and combine for 5 seconds on speed 5.
Press into the base of a lightly greased 20cm spring form pan. Chill.
Place sugar into bowl and process for 2 seconds on speed 8. Set aside.
Place 200g toblerone chocolate of choice into bowl and grate for 10 seconds on speed 8.
Melt chocolate for 2 minutes at 50°C on speed 3.
Return sugar to bowl along with the cream and cream cheese.
Mix for 30 – 40 seconds on speed 4.
Pour mixture over prepared base and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours until set.
Meanwhile grate remaining 200g Toblerone for 4 seconds on speed 8.
Serve topped with grated Toblerone.

Nik2bstar - This was made for Christmas and was a huge hit. The grated choc on top I mixed with whipped cream first then spread on top. Have definitely put this one in the make again book.

Becljones - I decided to tackle this Toblerone cheesecake for my first ever cheesecake and can I just say waaaayyyy too easy and super tasty! Not ridiculously rich just right. I used choc chip cookies for the base and grated dark chocolate for the top (only 100grms). Thank you for posting!

It doesn't appear anywhere on our forum Mama Fergie but certainly sounds nice.

Here's a link to the recipe if anyone is interested in giving it a go.

I've made the one very similar to that in Devil of a Cookbook, and that was delicious.  I think it was called Choc Nougat Cheesecake but ingredients included Toblerone.

Thats good to hear Cecilia as it sounds really yummy. Was just a bit concerned as having 10 adults and 10 children for brunch tomorrow and don't want dessert disaster. Will make it this afternoon and hopefully will taste as good as it sounds. Thanks to you too Judy for posting the link.

I just found a huge stash of Toblerone in the top of my pantry - was on the 'chuck out' pile but now I think I might just make cheesecakes out of them ... back into my pantry they go.  :-\  :)
