That is a bummer . We can't receive the  other good  stuff either.

I just use Kindle for iPad. Love it! I don't see the need to buy another device. What's the advantage of having a Kindle over just using the iPad?

I think there is a distinct advantage to having a kindle. Is much lighter than if you have a mini iPad. I would recommend a mini iPad and a paper white kindle.not going to post a for and against argument as you can do you own search for suitability.

I have a few books on my iPad but I do prefer my ereader. I should imagine it is matter of what feels right for you. DH and I share the iPad so I would feel mean reading on it if he wanted it for other things.

Yup lighter more portable and purpose built for reading. It is even lighter and smaller than the mini. I do read on my ipad as I always have it with me but only if I am stuck  waiting  for something

The biggest things for me in favour of the kindle are:
- lighter and more portable
- can read in any light situation so you can read outside in bright sunlight or in a darkened area.
- because screen replicates a book rather than the computer type screen of the ipad your eyes don't get fatigued.

Like Gert I still read on the iPad but rarely these days.

Thanks for that. I'll look into a Kindle now.

I particularly like the paperwhite (except the touch screen) because I don't like having to have a cover with integrated light or a clip on light to read in bed. With the paperwhite I can pull the covers up over my head and easily read without annoying or waking up DH regardless of the time.

My youngest has requested a Kindle so I intend to give her mine & purchase a new one.  I'm thinking the Paperwhite is the way to go to avoid unpleasant bedtime tantrums from The Bloke.

this will be the 3rd Kindle I have on the one account (Mum has my first one) - is there a limit? How many books can I have on one account?

How say you lot?  Any further advice?

I just don't like the touch Kindle but others do like the Paperlite.

I have at the moment 3 Kindles on one account but I think you can have 5 maybe more. The other  devices don't count as I also have 2 PC's an IMac plus the iPhone and 2 iPads included I guess would be my DD's I Pad , Her phone and PC. These are considered  apps I think so no worries.

I did once have 5 kindles once on the same account, no problemo.

Are you going to read The Cookoos Calling?  I have a new Inspector Linley on order but can't remember when it is due. Just downloaded a couple of Murders for free but they are well down on my list.

No, probs won't get to the Rowling book - I've got too much queued up to read for now.

I noticed that some didn't like the touch Kindle, but I don't think there is a Paperwhite with a keyboard option - or maybe I missed it?

No there is just one that is not touch I think. My DH has  the original and loves it. I now have the toggle one with no keyboard and the Kindle cover with light . Can't see me changing. The touch was a pain but my GD loves it .
