I have a suggestion which may be helpful in developing or tweaking recipes - I've used a small, inexpensive recorder/dictating micro tape recorder (hangs around my neck on a lanyard) when working on the very old recipes I am trying to modernize.
Some of the recorders have such sensitive mikes that you can place them anywhere in the room and when set for that function, will pick up anything in the room and will start and stop with voice activation. 

As I measure and go through the various prep procedures, I say what I am doing, how much, how long, what devices or utensils I am using, etc.

I then transcribe my verbal notes into a recipe format.  Occasionally I have to go back and tweak the recipe a bit here and there but with the computer it is a cinch.

I began using this method back in the late '70s, when I did everything on a typewriter and had to re-type the recipe every time I made a correction.  Things are so much easier now.

I used to do the same when I was in committees and would make notes as i was out driving etc.

Reminds me of a program that we had here in Australia called Kath and Kim  The husband-to-be, Kel, was trying to work out ideas for a commemorative sausage for the wedding.  You saw him on numerous occasions speaking into a Dictaphone - "Note to self - idea for sausage - lamb, rosemary, apple, Moroccan spice (or similar).  Think MrsT would wet her pants if she saw/heard me using a recorder to make notes while cooking after seeing that episode.

Will have to try it.  She is a bit over it - I have just conned my local restaurant into letting me spend Tuesday morning and early arvo' there helping do prep for meals.  Just would like to improve skills/knowledge.  MrsT just  and says what do you hope to achieve.

Maybe i should do my Kel Knight impersonations - complete with gold chain and very open shirt, and maybe a banndana?

Yes, she PMd me and let me know what was wrong.  Talk about a shock!!!!!  I thought she had a nasty cold or something.  I wish it was only that.  Glad to hear she's somewhat on the mend now, though.

Thermomixer, you seemed to have missed your calling and should have gone into the cooking sector many years ago.  Not that there is anything wrong with being a vet - I have no use for one but I did take my grand-dog to one a few years back, little whimp he was ( gorgeous cavalier king charles with a grass seed in his ear) and there we both were (the dog and me, not the vet), crying in the waiting room! I can normally hold it together but it was all too much for me at the time.

Thought you were saying that the vet was a whimp !!!  Grass seeds in the ear are PAINFUL - for dog and vet (and some owners  )

Our dog has got one now - must be the time of year. Managed to get half out with tweezers but he continues to shake his head. So its off to the vet tomorrow morning for some sedating and a poke around...
