Leftover Hard Sauce. What can I make?
« on: January 04, 2011, 12:58:47 am »
Hi

I have just less then 250ml of hard sauce left over from Christmas Day, and I was wondering if there was anything I could make with it.

It contains butter, icing sugar and vanilla essence. I was thinking a cake or something would be nice. I don't want to waste it, but don't have anymore pudding to use it on either.

A cake would be good or some biscuits with icing or a slice.

I have seen on the web about freezing brandy butter (which is the same thing I've just found out - although in your case you've used vanilla instead of booze) and then using it like icecream on top of any (hot) dessert.

And apparently also good for bread & butter pudding.

I would just freeze it too in portion sizes - otherwise I think biscuits would be the go. Just reduce your sugar and vanilla a little perhaps (depending on how much you initially added to the sauce)
