technically sous vide is vacume sealed but same kind of thing just with the air in to allow it to expand and the ingredients to cook in their juice etc...ive seen ingredients cooked in some kind of fabric too where it blew up like a balloon and the chef was pouring juice on the outside of the fabric ball (he didnt like using plastic and said the fabric created a much better flavour)..looked divine and sorry dont know the technical term for it...im sure andie would know but it is beyond my knowlege and technical capabilities  ???...even the accompanying trained chefs had never used that technique (with the fabric i mean not cooking in plastic bags lol)!

Not trying to be a party-pooper here - just practical.
Isn't it quicker and more energy efficient to make scrambled eggs in a non-stick pan on the stove?  Not to mention significantly easier, and more energy efficient, to clean up?

yes I agree amanda but someone was after a thermomix recipe and I happnened to have one in our local books...they are quite nice in the thermomix but i have to say im not a fan in general of scrambled eggs and would be much quicker on the stove etc  :)

The recipe with the plastic bag was called Cheat's Omelette. My nan always used to make my brother fantastic omelettes (before I found out I liked eggs) and she used a special omelette pan. I was always too intimidated to make omelettes after that.

Then a friend of mine who is lusting after a TMX has her sister telling her how wonderful the TMX omelette is. So I figured I would give it a try. Best bits for me was that a) I didn't have to clean anything, as the water in the bowl just got tipped out and the varoma didn't get  speck of anything on it either; b) I didn't have to worry about mucking it up; c) I didn't have to stand over it (my least favourite style of cooking atm).

I have to say I wasn't very impressed with the bag omelette and I hate to think about what leaches out of the plastic while it cooks, so I actually only did it twice. Never have to again now.

im sure hte omelette is mess free but the scrambled eggs does leave a film on the bottom of the bowl as its all cooked in the bowl...its not that hard to clean off but as bron said would be easier and quicker in the frypan...still was lovely and moist and like you said you dont need to watch over it like most things thermomix..!!
