1960s night

[Merlin]

I just wanted to get some food ideas for a 1960s night I am doing - the theme is the Avengers- ie the Patrick McNee, Diana Rigg Avengers, NOT the current film! I was thinking Swedish meatballs, a fondue and cheeseboard as well as prawn cocktail (entree). Maybe rhubarb crumble or something for dessert. Does anyone have any other ideas? I also want to do a smorgasbord  rather than a sit down dinner as I still remember my parents having dinner parties around then and they always seemed to be buffet style.
Anyway, grateful for any ideas!!!

Gorgeous pineapple. Mashed potato wrapped in devon. (forget what it's called)
Cocktail frankfurts, stuffed eggs and punch.

What fun that sounds Merlin and Uni, that list is perfect for ideas to make Merlin's job easier. 
Michele I've never heard of mashed potato wrapped in devon (we call it fritz here in SA).  Is it then fried?
Ah, the old pineapple centrepiece Gretchen - haven't we come a long way with our cheese presentation 
Merlin this idea sounds more exciting than Christmas in July.

Love the pineapple idea.
Now need to find a bowler hat and umbrella for my DH and I'll need to lose 500kg in 3 weeks to look like Emma Peel! Maybe I'll just be one of the characters from the show instead! I'm also going to practice shooting the top off a champagne bottle with a gun- if anyone can remember the opening titles (just kidding about the gun bit- maybe a sword would be better!)

I remember my mum used a orange instead of a pineapple, deviled eggs and mouse traps ( cheese on toast topped with bacon think there was some tomato sauce in there as well)

I loved the Avengers. Emma Peel was soooooo good.

I think I missed a lot of the sixties. As I was out raving. I missed the seventies. Probably stoned, oh wait I had the kids then. Must have been sober part of the time.

Oh yeah I made a few baked alaskas. Spectacular especially with sparklers on top.

OMG,  that is a long time ago.  Think I was going through my 'Ethnic' stage.  Kaftans,  land rover, camping on the beach.  Can't remember what we ate.  Would have to be cheap.  DH at Uni, me working in school as 'temporary female.'Think I made a lot of Pavlovas.  Would buy a whole lamb from the wholesale meat market.  (. Would bribe the butchers with a chocolate cake,  to split it down the middle).  Mum would take 1/2 and the other half would last us months.  Went to a few parties but just cheap wine and dry biscuits.
I would love to come to this party, a new experience, what fun.
