scales inaccurate

The scales on my Thermomix are not accurate - up to 30g out for larger quantities and up to 10 g out for smaller quantities.  This is particularly disconcerting for smaller quantities of butter and oil.  The feet of the machine are clean and it's on a level surface (I checked with a spirit level) The instruction manual does say that the scales aren't 100% accurate but this wasn't mentioned in the sales demos I went to
How can I minimise or get rid of the inaccuracy?

Is your cord fully extended from inside the machine as well and also not touching your machine?

Once you have checked to see if your cord has been pulled all the way out from the back of the TMX, remove the measuring cup (MC) from the lid, set the scales to zero and weight the MC  MegPJ?  It should weigh 25g-30g depending on what your name is  . Mine always weighs 25g.  At the start of every cooking session I do this test to make sure I start off correctly. If I want to weigh anything below 10g, I use my digital scales.

My MC weighs 30g but I'm pretty sure that is ok. As Judy does for small amounts I use my scales.

Have changed my posting above to read 25-30g as that seems to be correct.  I still find it a bit strange though that mine always weighs 25g yet Cookie's weighs 30g

Mine is always 30g as well Judy

Mine also weighs 25-30g.  I weigh before each cooking session to make sure it is as accurate as possible

25-30g is correct JD ... I guess it depends on how the computer was feeling on the day they did the MC's lol

I've never thought to weigh my MC before. Just out of interest I just did- the MC on my Thermo Chef weighs 36g.

Lol this reminded me of the maths class in primary school when they brought out the old electric scales and we had to weigh a heap of different classroom items and record what they weighed. Seems pointless to me now, but I'm sure knowing the weight of my purple pencil was high on my list on priorities when I was 8 years old

After many years of having sometimes-dodgy scales, I don't bother faffing around with them much anymore. If they're playing up I usually just stand there swearing and then revert back to cup measures

Thanks Judy . My MC weighs 30g too and I was starting to wonder if both my sets of scales were out.
BTW if you want to check tmx scales at the heavier end, according to the Instruction Manual the Varoma should weigh .8 kg

That's very interesting. I have been having a bit of trouble with my scales also. Checked feet and they are clean and cord in right. I just weighed my mc and it is 20g, so perhaps mine is out a bit. It even went back to 15g at one stage.

haybray ... just checking ... but the cord should be fully extended all the way OUT and NOT touching your TMX could just be the way I am reading your post, but wanted to make sure

I read haybray's posting as you did Kathryn - ie, the cord all the way in and not all the way out.  This was something that was never pointed out to me at my delivery demo and I never knew it made a difference until I read it on here a while back.  On checking mine, luckily it was all the way out so the consultant must have done it for me but she certainly didn't mention it to me.

Thanks Faffa and JD for checking up on me, sorry but I typed it quickly this morning and didn't word it correctly, yes my cord is out and not touching. I have cooked a few things today and just weighed my mc again tonight and now it reads 20g, so all good now. I did weigh my varoma this morning and it weighed .730 grams so not quite the .800 as supposed to be, probably close enough.
