Hally, Obbie - what do you pay per kg for your meat in bulk?

Jude, i'll be interested to hear if you find a good supplier of the chicken - we use quite a lot of chicken.

Hally - 110kg - that's a lot of meat, how much room does it take up in your freezer and how long will it last?

Wonder our beef is about $6.50 per kilo. Cut up, packed, labelled by our local butcher. ;)

perfect.
When we buy a whole beef, for 240 kilos, it takes us about 9 months to use for 2 adults. Now I cook most nites for my parents, it would take 6 months.. :)
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

So far I have spent $77.12 all from aussie farmers as have not been to the shops. Over $50 on fruit & veg this week. I will need to go to the shops today or tomorrow, we are out of english breakfast tea.

 :)

You know how funny that is H?

love that piggy! Wish I was having pork belly for dinner -I almost bought one last week, but am trying to use up what's in my freezer. This challenge is making me think before I buy.  ;D I do have a large pork roast in my freezer, so must invite people over to help us eat it soon.
I havent been shopping since last weekend, so I will come in under budget again. I made a double batch of NayNay's scones this morning for the kids to take to grandparents day at school. I ran out of SR flour, and I would normally have a spare packet in the cupboard, but I didn't, so I used plain flour and baking powder instead. Both flours will be on my list this week.
Maybe I could buy some bulk meat once I have emptied the freezer, but i dont think we would be able to eat even a half side of beef, and I dont think my freexer would be big enough either. We are not big red meat eaters, although in winter we do eat a lot of pressure cooker meals and many of those have beef in them.

I have 3 big freezers.
It saves so much money. Beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish in bulk.

Then all I need is fruit/veges, bread and milk.. Plus a few basics for the pantry..

Nah it will be fine.  You are just air drying it.  It would not keep if it were wrapped .  Be sure to put enough water in the pan though to keep the meat moist.

Obbie, do you just buy yours from a local butchers shop and get them to cut it up how you would like?
