Hally,  tell me more about the dairy week.

Judy,  have booked our trip to Turkey for next year.  Going to need all I can save between now and then.. Would love to visit CC while over there.  ;D  Anyone want to have a sticky,  it is Captains Choice,   Ancient Wonders of the Black Sea.

Well blew it today.  $114 .  Back to some bad habits ,  got sucked in with some specials.  2 tins of Pineapple  Thins (on special)  for a lovely sweet  where you fill the hole with dates and lemon juice and cover with meringue and bake. A very large chicken for $10.  A large packet of English Breakfast Tea.  2 Bags of quick sale pumpkin,  which I am turning into soup,  mash and bake.  2 lots of visitors,  (that I know about)  this week,  so still pretty good.

It is so easy to get sucked in :(

Dairy Challenge, the idea is to try & use freezer frozen veg & fruit & more importantly pantry items. My pantry doesnt seem to go down, just as busy.

So the only items we can buy this week are dairy, milk, cream, butter, cheese etc.

H :)

Count me in. My pantry is just about where I want it but the freezer just don't seems to budge.
Was hoping to defrost it this weekend, will aim for next weekend.

I wont be joining this challenge, I can only have a small amount of dairy.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

I have one huge 800gm can of peach halves in the pantry. This can will be my first port of call.
I don't buy a lot of tinned fruit, although have half a kilo of raspberries in the freezer and apart from the peaches only have a tin of fruit salad.

I wonder if peaches & chicken works like apricot chicken.

My menu plan out of the window as I left meat out of the freezer whilst looking for a chicken to make butter chicken.

However instead of buying a few items for my Harira soup I used from pantry. Needed dry chickpeas, used tinned but obviously didnt  soak & pre-cook. Needed a tin of tomatoes, used dolmio jar. Used green lentil instead of black. Normally I would have bought all these items.

Spent $12.89 with aussie farmers, 5 litres of milk & 1 spreadable butter. Have cancelled the rest of the weeks orders,  but will need milk by the weeend with eb coming again.

Really hoping to stay in dairy only. Might need a few veg but not much :)

Used frozen veg yesterday, nothing wrong them :)

H :)

Well done H. I am working on my pantry too. I am amazing myself when shopping .this challenge has really changed  a lifetime of poor shopping habits.

Thank you for thinking of it and for getting us motivated.

I have been reading this thread with interest, as I really need to start shopping within a budget. I thought before I post anything saying "I'm in" I would give it a trial run and see how close to $100 I could get at my last supermarket shop. I did my menu plan for 2 adults 1 toddler 1 baby and tried to use mostly things from the pantry & freezer, but still managed to spend $227!!  :o  :o What the! That did include $60 worth of nappies, but still nowhere near  >:(

Will attempt again this week, fingers crossed for a better result.
