Good luck with the basket Chookie.  How many times have we gone in for 1 item and come out with a bagful at least.  If you stick to your list though you'll be right and it's a good idea to food shop without husbands  :D I've never done food shopping with a husband in all my married life.

We have been married nearly 50 years and I have never not once shopped for food with DH in tow and I never took the kids either. It is my time out time.

Leaving husbands home is the only way. My DH will let me shop alone now. I got "you aren't paying $$$$ for that are you?"  He forgot he hadn't shopped for many years.  I will enjoy shopping today as the air con will be very nice.

Well that was an absolutely B.....y disaster.  Not Rals fault.  He waited in the car.
I took a small red basket and then saw LL milk on special so went back for a SMALL trolly. ,! You can see I was still trying. ,!
Wanted Coconut cream to make Sorbet. Saw fresh coconut cream on special so bought 3 jars. Thought I would avoid the meat  but sister wants a lesson on making pork crackle pin wheels.  Total disaster.  4 packets of rind and then I saw a beautiful rolled pork leg,  heavily reduced. Then I saw a nice piece of pork scotch filet that would be perfect in a recipe I was reading this morning. ( also on special) I won't go on and tell you about the chicken or the 3 Pomegranates.
Completely lacking in self control. $ 168.00.

Oh Chookie, there is no hope for you I'm afraid.  All these years you thought it was Ral's fault but now we know better  :D :D :D :D :D
If it's any consolation, the food won't be wasted though.

Chookie I love you. I am so pleased you succumbed. I could never walk past bargains. ( as long as I will use them). What did Ral say when you got back to the car?

Oh chookie you made me laugh on a raw cold day with your shopping exploits. I just have to imagine your wonderful meals  ;D

I use Aldi a lot and only the bigger supermarkets for the stuff they don't sell. Never ever used Tesco.
Plus local shopping for milk, bread etc as ten plus some miles from a town. Today I spent ten pounds on 8 litres of local milk, onions, bananas, a packet of hobnobs and a paper to read and a treat for my lunch -a small custard tart as DH is away.

DJ,  glad you had a laugh.  I can laugh too now.  All the food will be used.  It is just that I set a goal and blew it completely.
I think you did petty well with your shopping. Enjoy your tart.
