Well done!
I went to the market today and spent the least amount of money there ever! The kids are on holidays and I have no idea what they have eaten because I didn't buy any apples and only 2L of milk as there is so much left over from last week. The total of my supermarket and growers market shopping comes to $114. I may need  bread this week so it will be a little more, but I should come in under budget this week ( again). Still not much room in my freezer either. I am determined to keep going with this challenge

A much better week! On budget with $97 for the week. Next week should be a lot less, should only need a few greens and bananas towards the end of the week.  (fingers crossed  ;D).  Fridge and freezer are full :)

When I start organizing our tax return this week, I will add up food for some of the other months. And see if it was as bad as June.

I do try and menu plan. I have trouble as the meat part of meals seems to go a lot further then planned. For example i bought a small piece of corned beef. I smoked it and served it as a main meal, then later in the week some of the leftovers were made into savoury waffles. This did another two nights, and the rest I have frozen. So two night menu plans went out of the window.

I find I like to cook what appeals to me that day - not a week ago! This challenge will help me to empty out the freezer and pantry, which is great.

$105 this week so slightly over.  Coles had red delicious apples for 90c er kilo and bananas for $2.00 per kilo. Fruit and veg shop had red capsicum for $2.99 per kilo so have masses of all those.  Peeled bananas and squeezed lemon over and froze in chunks for instant icecream in TMX. Will add frozen coconut milk and sieved passionfruit.  Apparently apple freezes ok too and have been looking at recipes for apple ketchup and chutney etc. roasted some of the capsicums and skinned for a pesto style sauce.  Love the challenge of using seasonal produce.   Kiwi fruit sure cheap too.... Hmmm ave to research wat to do with them.... Maybe jam.

Don't buy Radox, Halex, just get some Epsom Salts and put some Lavender oil or something like that in it. Radox is simply Magnesium Sulphate, Epsom Salts in disguise.

I've tried to post on this thread twice today and it just kept hanging.

I've blown my budget twice now and haven't really kept a record as I've been too busy. But this week, only spent $30, so that has helped!
This exercise has been really good for me, making me use what's in the fridge, freezer and pantry and not throwing anything away because I haven't planned to use it.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Halley you are so organised!  I open my fridge, peer hopefully into the freezer and pantry.... have a glass of wine... have another look and a think... have another glass of wine and then fully inspired get to it!  LOL sometimes success, sometimes failure, always interesting.
