Bread from the Freezer - any tips to getting the slices not to stick?

I am not a fresh bread person, I prefer toast hence why I freeze my bread.
I have just started making my own but I find that the slices stick together and always break apart. Whereas If I buy a commercial loaf, I never usually have this issue, the bread sticks but can be easily plied apart without much effort.
Any hints or ideas ?

Ummmm A slice of baking paper between each one? - although that sounds fiddly...
or take out for 5 min beforehand to defrost a little... or freeze in portions rather than the whole loaf eg 2-4 slices in separate freezer bags so you only take small portions out at a time (I think that is what I would do)

Kulsha's suggestion of freezing in small portions is good, it's what I do - my DH reckons if you rotate each slice around, i.e. so that you top and tail them, if you know what I mean, works, although I'm not sure about that.

I use Glad go-betweens between each slice. Also great for everything else eg chicken schnitzels, minute steaks etc.

I wrap all my bread in individual portions. I find this a good strategy because it allows me to package the best slices and label them to be for sandwiches, and wrap the crusts and any dodgy looking slices (since I don't always manage to cut it straight
) and label them to have with soup or something like that. Just remember to write the date on them too

I use baking paper as well but pack mine in what I think I will use for the day. I sometimes leave the first & last part of the loaf whole and freeze that as is then once it has thawed I just cut what I want from it over a 2 day period. Fresh for the first day, toast for the second day.

ELH05 I don't use any inbetweens at all. All I do is make sure the bread has completely cooled before I slice it with a razor sharp bread knife. Put in large freezer bag with most of air out and secure with a twist tie or a thingy
from a commercial loaf. Also make sure the loaf can stand in the freezer and not be squashed (well until it is solid anyway
)

A silly question...... Can you freeze the bread uncut and the cut when defrosted?

Thanks jd. I usually do that with bought bread and cut when required. My loaf stays fresher that way too. Wasn't sure with home baked bread.

I freeze my bread in 4 slice packages as that is what we usually use in a day. If I remember I take it out in the morning and let it thaw, otherwise I zap it in the microwave.
