.....btw Lynn welcome to the forum - I was so caught up in explaining the 'must have' piemaker I did not realise that you had just joined the very addictive world of this community.

BTW Lynn, Thermomix UK are very bad at advertising on their website other things that they sell.  If you do place an order, ask what other things they sell at the time.  When your TM arrives, you get a list of other bits and bobs.  I bought the apron, but because I failed to order it at the same time as my TM, I had to pay postage on top.  I don't know where the list they sent me is now, otherwise I would tell you what was on it.

Hello Lyn
And welcome from another Brit in Britain!

I only joined in April and have had a ball on here, and in the kitchen.

Using the freezer much more. Make a pudding, and freeze the remainder for busy days.

Doing more cooking it is like anther pair of hands in the kitchen.

Great craik on here, so enjoy.

And why don't you  join the clandestine cake club in our area? Or set one up. Just google Clandestine Cake Club. It is a social for bakers with branches in uk and now NZ and Aus.

Oh and beware the pie maker thread, my machine was given away before we moved and is now coming back as unused!!!!!

Hi everyone and thank you for all your lovely welcomes, comments and advice.

I  have been off into a twilight world - somehow managed to pick up the Norovirus.  Not nice.  I couldn't even think about food so I stayed away from the forum for the sake of my health.  LOL.  It is the virus that rampages through cruise ships and hospitals; as I have been to neither it will remain one of life's mysteries how I picked it up.

The only good bit of news is that the heat retaining casseroles have arrived.  Now all I need is a Thermomix!

Droverjess:

I need cakes and pies like I need a hole in the head!  Please don't tempt me!!  I am trying to regain my once youthful figure!  It gets harder as the years roll by!  I want a TMX to get healthier and slimmer!!!!  Mind you, I do recall somebody saying I will put on weight!  Oh no!!! :o

JB:

Thank you for the tip about asking what else they have.  It does seem to me that Thermomis need a better retail strategy in the UK!  I discovered its existence by accident and I have yet to see an advertisement for it.

I hope that you get your dehydrator - if you do, let us know how you get on.

Off to bed!  I have a definite case of post viral malaise and sleeping a lot.

Wishing you all well.

Lynn

Norovirus, not a good one.  Have been on a cruise where it ran rampant but luckily it avoided us.  Lots of empty spaces in the dining room with people being confined to their cabins with it.  Hope you are feeling better Lynn.

Lol mcmich  ;D  I know what you mean by getting caught up in threads which make you want to buy things.  Working on DH atm to get me a food dehydrator for birthday (something I had never even heard of until I came on the forum).  That will have to be it for the moment as have no more room ...

Oh poor you Lynn.  Hope you get better soon.  Just think about your TM (minus the lovely food you will be making) and that should cheer you up.  It really is awful the amount of bugs and things that keep going around nowadays.  Glad your heat retaining thingys have arrived.  Meant to order some the other day.  Ordered a mouse as mine was giving up the ghost, and forgot about the casseroles ???

Mcmich, the spirali makes excellent veg spaghetti and such fun to play with  ;D

Just found that on Helene's blog Gretchen and see that it was a Benriner one.  They are supposed to be the bee's knees and are used by a lot of famous chefs.  However when searching on UK sites, they didn't seem to have particularly good reviews ???  I just wonder if the fault lay with the people operating them, rather than the machine itself, but I wasn't going to risk it. :-\

A belated welcome Lynn. I do hope you decide to buy a TMX.
As you have discovered this forum is really wonderful. Lots of us have become friends and there are a group of us from all parts of Australia getting together for a weekend here in Western Australia at the end of August.
Quite a few of us have get togethers in our local area.
Several have met up with others when they have been overseas.

I have always used 'dag' as a term of endearment. But I also helped Dad take the dags off the wool of the sheep.

Do hope you have recovered Lynn. Norovirus is nasty.
