Was just looking at Helene's ricotta and reading the comments at the end.  This caught my eye and it's absolutely fascinating . . .!!!

 l  was reading helene's sight to and was amazed . l never knew anything about a2 milk
and had wondered if it would help my son . will try it when l get to the shops

a2 milk is the only type I have bought for the past 9 months. I can't get enough of it and it tastes delicious.

I always buy it too. The milk I buy from my local growers market isnt actually labelled as A2, but it is jersey milk, which carries this gene. It is a little more expensive, but it tastes good and I think it is better for my family.

Althought we do not actually drink milk I do use it in cooking and have always bought Jersey cow milk produced on a beautiful farm  near where Robyn lives above Cairns. I really tastes good. It is expensive but well worth it.

How intersting
Well our dairy cow is a shorthorn.
Hope she is a2. Prefer her milk, and it is straight from cow.

However DH not milking her at present, she is out at grass with her calf. Usually we share the milk by shutting calf up in the day and milk in the evening then let calf out. She gives us milk, and beef and I make yogurt and learnt to make cheese this year too.

Will see what DH says?

I don't buy much and I know it isn't doing the farmers any favours if I refuse the Coles offer of a dollar a litre but I feel a a farmer is worth  all the toil he puts in so if I buy $5  bottle of milk and wind up throwing some out then so be it. The Jersey cow milk  from Mungalli Dairy is wonderful as it their cream and butter and Quark and yoghurt  and so on.

Gretchen, if you don't use much milk why don't you freeze it in small portions so that nothing gets wasted ?

Ask me that after I figure out  space in my new freezer. Good point though. It would be better  for the farmer if I did not do that but better on my pocket if I did. Is this a moral dilemma?

As my husband says,

we have to support the local farmers, as they support us in our business.

So I buy local as much as possible, direct if we can.

Maybe Gert but better than wasting it I would have thought.  Either that or just drink more milk - come on, you can do it - put some Baileys in it or Tia Maria

Maybe make more creamy soups. I had some on some cereal the other day and it was delish. The cereal not so much but it was purchased for my family and I thought I might give it a go as my son won't be visiting for a long long time. Cereal is one of the most disgusting things ever  invented.  Porridge is possibly ok but anything in a box  with sugar is really vomit worthy.  God knows what they put in that over processed crap but it tastes like nothing  edible.
