Just got back from the fishmonger.  The scallops looked awful so I passed on those and got mussels and periwinkles instead.

Also got some oysters

I've never cooked periwinkles before but chef google says they are easy.

He now says not to worry about dessert !  He's more focused on the seafood :-)

Hope he enjoys the seafood Chrissa.  :D
I have never cooked periwinkles either ??? Mussels and clams are my regulars. Love scallops but they must be really fresh.

Happy birthday to your DH Chrissa. I hope you both enjoy the dinner

We don't have a lot of mussels, prawns or scallops. Far too expensive for us. We have crabs that we catch and fish that we catch.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I know Amy - no dessert - what's the world coming to :-D

It was a bit pricey cookie but I didn't buy him a gift, this is all he asked for.

The mussels are cheap, 2kg for $10 only trouble is cleaning them, a job I've just finished.

The bisque is done, just needs the cream added before serving.  I'll try to,take photos before he eats it all ;)

I'm about to get the garlic prawns happening

Your DH must love your cooking Chrissa if he only ordered a special meal for his birthday.  Hope you both enjoy it and happy birthday to your DH from me too.

Happy birthday to your DH Chrissa your meal sounds lovely. I only buy scollops when I am in tassie and bring them back to the west. The family never remind that they are in the freezer they hope I leave then lol
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

Thanks Judy, Kimmyh and jeninwa from me and my DH

Judy he rarely asks me to cook anything specific for him, he's a meat and potatoes kind of guy but he does love his seafood

The bisque was amazing. I've made it before and its a lot of work but this time I did bits in the TMX.  I'll post the recipe tomorrow

We had the oysters and the prawns.  We were too full to have the mussels and periwinkles so they haven't been cooked yet, we'll have them tomorrow.  I guess it's like having another birthday dinner tomorrow

Here are the pics from tonight
